(VANCOUVER, Wa.) - Sheriff's deputies in La Center, Washington say an 11-year old boy will survive an accidental shooting that took place when a 15-year old relative pulled the trigger of a .38 caliber pistol that they all believed was inoperable. It happened Monday night just after 8:00 PM.

A preliminary investigation indicates that three boys, ages 15, 11, and 11 were playing in a back bedroom at a house on NE Cerveny Drive, southeast of La Center.

The 15-year old and one of the 11-year olds do not live in the house, but all three are related. Several adults were in the home at the time, but were in a different part of the house.

Investigators say the 15-year old pulled the trigger and the pistol fired a single bullet into the torso of the 11-year old who does not live in the home. Initial reports indicate that the injuries to the boy are not life threatening.

Due to the ages of the children involved no names will be released in relation to this incident at this time.

No arrests are being made at this time. The incident remains under investigation by the Clark County Sheriff's Office.
