Update On My Leukemia Diagnosis.

(ENNIS, Mt.) - Lesli Moore Dahlke Many of our readers know me through my writing here at Salem-News.com about my plight, challenges and struggles with Agent Orange exposure. I unknowingly received extensive exposure during Christmas 1970 in Vietnam during a USO Tour.

I value the support I have received from many of our readers. I appreciate the comments— some favorable, some not. No matter what your personal opinion, continuing a dialog on this highly emotional and difficult political topic is moving in a positive direction.

VA Posts Online List of Ships Associated with Presumptive AO Exposure

Veterans claiming other conditions may file online at VA's My-eBenefits Website.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Blue Water Navy Veterans Veterans who served aboard U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ships operating on the waters of Vietnam between January 9, 1962, and May 7, 1975, may be eligible to receive Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability compensation for 14 medical conditions associated with presumptive exposure to Agent Orange.

An updated list of U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ships confirmed to have operated on Vietnam's inland waterways, docked on shore, or had crewmembers sent ashore, has been posted online.

(HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam) - A photo by Murayama of Truong Thi Le, who was one of only three members of her family to survive the My Lai massacre by the Americans in 1968 The tears falling down the wrinkled face of an old woman in Binh Dinh Province sent Japanese photojournalist Yasufumi Murayama on an odyssey around South Korea to find the man she had loved during the war and had two children with.

Murayama was on one of several trips he made to Central Viet Nam to interview victims raped by South Korean troops during the war when he met Lam Thi Ky, 68, when she told him the story of her life before 1975.

Agent Orange Claim Filing Deadline Aug. 30

Veterans can file for disability claims online at VA's Agent Orange Fast Track Claims Processing System.

(DA NANG, Vietnam) - spraying agent orange Vietnam-era veterans who have medical diagnoses for three presumptive conditions related to Agent Orange exposure need to file their disability claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs by Aug. 30 in order to qualify for up to one year of retroactive benefits.
