(LOS ANGELES) - Salem-News.com writer Lesli Dahlke is a scheduled guest for the POW/MIA Radio show Sunday, August 14, 2011. The program, News and Views: An hour of the latest POW/MIA and veterans issues., begins at 2:00 p.m. MT. in 1970, at 18 years old, Ms. Lesli Moore Dahlke was touched by the television images of our young soldiers in Vietnam and volunteered for a USO Handshaking Christmas tour in Vietnam. She toured the war zone with other entertainers from Saigon to Quang Tri visiting many sites to boost the morale of the soldiers they met. She returned home to get a degree and continue her life. However, almost 20 years later, she was diagnosed with cancer, cancer traced from the chemical defoilant, Agent Orange. Since then, she has fought through surgeries and the seemingly impossible struggle to get help. Lesli will tell her story, a story of a young woman who volunteered to spread cheer and good will to our troops and came home with an enemy many of our Vietnam veterans continue to fight. Please visit her web site, alossofinnocence.com for more information. Catch the program at: http://www.americanewsnet.com The program's other guest is Mr. Scott Baron who appears at 3:00 p.m. MT. Mr. Baron is an author, US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and former law enforcement officer in California. His latest book, The 14-Hour War: Valor on Koh Tang and the Recapture of the SS Mayaguez was written with Mr. James E. Wise. The book recounts the May, 1975 joint operation to recover the American container ship S. S. Mayaguez and rescue the crew from their Cambodian captors. Poor intelligence and knowledge of the defending force of experienced and heavily armed Khmer Rouge soldiers could have spelled disaster. Although 41 men were killed, the bravery and sacrifice of the young US servicemen caused many more casualties to be averted. Scott will also discuss the fate of three Marines, mistakenly left behind after the extraction.
