Oregon, UCLA Picked to Win Pac-12 North, South; Meet in Title Game

UCLA is a heavy favorite to win the Pac-12 South.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Oregon QB Marcus Mariota Oregon is a near unanimous pick to win the Pac-12's North Division and a heavy favorite to go on and win the conference title game to cap the upcoming season, according to a poll of media members covering the league.

The Ducks, coming off an 11-2 season in which they won the Alamo Bowl, were picked to win the North Division on 37 of 39 ballots.

Oregon State to Compete in MGM Grand Main Event

The remainder of Oregon State’s 2014-15 men’s basketball schedule will be announced in early September.

(LAS VEGAS, Nev. ) - MGM Grand Main Event The Oregon State men’s basketball team will compete at the MGM Grand Main Event in Las Vegas, Nev., a new tournament featuring eight teams playing on Monday and Wednesday of Thanksgiving week.

The Heavyweight bracket includes Oregon State, Auburn, Oklahoma State and Tulsa, while the Middleweight bracket will feature Louisiana, Milwaukee, Oral Roberts and a final team to be announced.

Forjet Fans 11 in Volcanoes Win over Spokane

Sanchez tied a baseball record with four strikeouts in the ninth inning.

(KEIZER, Ore. ) - Jason Forjet Howling winds out to left showed promise of an offensive night at Volcanoes Stadium, but Jason Forjet quickly rewrote the story as he struck out 11 Spokane batters en route to a 5-2 Volcanoes victory on Wednesday night.

"Today I had my breaking ball working for me, and I was throwing my fastball to both sides of the plate," Forjet said.

Oregon Quartet Makes Noise at World Juniors

The third day of the competition will begin, Thursday at 10:00 a.m.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - World Junior Track and Field Championships Incoming freshman Ariana Washington led a quartet of Oregon women competing at the IAAF World Junior Track and Field Championships, Wednesday, finishing seventh in the women’s 100.

Washington, who will be coming to Eugene from Long Beach Poly High School, recorded a time of 11.64 in the finals, after advancing second in her semifinal heat in 11.73.

Ducks Jason Amos Wins ITA Summer Circuit

Amos defeated the top three seeds in the ITA Summer Circuit as he claimed the singles title.

(AZUSA, Calif.) - Jayson Amos Oregon men’s tennis junior Jayson Amos mowed down the top three overall seeds, including the No. 1 overall seed in the finals, to claim the singles title at the 2014 ITA Summer Circuit.

The three-day event held at Azusa Pacific started on Saturday, July 19, and culminated with the championship on Monday.

Briles, took to Twitter on why Petty has a better chance to win the Heisman this year: “Go to a Dairy Queen in Salem, Ore…” and they’ve heard of Petty.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Jack Nelson Willamette University Willamette University inside linebacker Jack Nelson (Sr., Portland, Ore./Jesuit HS) has been named NCAA Division III Second Team Preseason All-America by the Beyond Sports Network.

Nelson was a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award last season. He was named First Team All-Northwest Conference in 2012 and 2013.

Former North Salem Cheerleader, Now Paralyzed, Says New Treatment Program Could Change His Life

A lifetime on a breathing machine and a feeding tube was not an option for Kenneth Connin.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - North Salem High School Cheerleading A former cheerleader from North Salem High School who was paralyzed in a freak accident shortly after graduation, is hoping to make it big the highly competitive fashion industry in New York City with the help of a new rehabilitation program in California.

And now he's hoping for a cheering section of his own.

Kenneth Connin, now 22, and who now lives in Portland, Oregon, was a competitive cheerleader at North Salem High School, and after high school moved to Reno, Nevada to continue his cheerleading career.
