2-Vehicle Crash on I-5 Kills Gresham Man

All lanes of I-5 southbound were open near Salem by 11 a.m.

(SALEM, Ore.) - fatal crash Today at about 5:00 a.m., Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to the report of a crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 257.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2003 Kia Rio, operated by 20-year old Jacob Bowlsby, of Gresham, lost control and came to a stop in the middle of the freeway. At the same time, a 1997 Honda Civic, operated by 20-year old Oscar Aguilar Esparza, of Salem, was southbound and collided with the Kia Rio.

Second Fatal Crash into Willamette River this Month

The vehicle was fully submerged but visible in the river.

(BENTON COUNTY, Ore.) - fatal crash At 7:30 this morning, deputies from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash into the Willamette River on Highway 20, mile marker 2, just east of Corvallis.

The location was approximately a half mile east of the location where a car had fatally driven off Highway 20 on January 7th.

Salem Woman Killed by Train (UPDATED)

The investigation into this fatal tragedy continues.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Train fatal On Thursday, December 27, 2018 at approximately 2:20 pm, Salem Police officers responded to the area of Marion St NE and 12th St NE on the report of an adult female being struck by a southbound Union Pacific freight train.

The victim, identified as 46-year old Michelle Manis, of Salem, was found deceased at the scene.
