The worst thing is that Combat Vets cannot get realistic help from the Army or VA.

PTSD Documentary Research Trip Progressing

The next phase of production will be a 500 Mile March from Portland to the Central California coast to raise funding for the documentary and awareness of PTSD.

Our quest to gather material for an upcoming hour-long television documentary on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is progressing well. The point of this program is education for those who suffer from this type of stress, and for their families.

We actually started shooting for this program one year ago in Iraq, when I had the rare opportunity to interview soldiers and Marines about PTSD while they are still serving in the combat theater.

VA Announces Expansion of Counseling for Combat Veterans

Oregon's Deschutes County is on the list for one of the new VA centers.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - U.S. soldiers in Iraq Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki announced that combat Veterans will receive readjustment counseling and other assistance in 28 additional communities across the
country where the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will establish Vet Centers in 2010.

"VA is committed to providing high-quality outreach and readjustment counseling to all combat Veterans," Secretary Shinseki said. "These 28 new Vet Centers will address the growing need for those services."

Oregon Veteran Activist Wants PTSD Added to Medical Marijuana Program

A meeting in Portland Thursday will address the issue and proponents hope to see a large turnout of Veterans.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - US Soldiers Smoke Pot Through an Unloaded Shot Gun during The Vietnam War.  An Oregon man is trying to change the rules for medical marijuana patients, allowing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to be included among the relevant conditions that allow a doctor to authorize the use.

The state of Oregon has a chance to help veterans, reduce legal and court cost, and step forward in line with California, Canada and Israel in accepting that cannabis is a usable treatment and sometimes smart option for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Oregon Air Guard 142nd Security Forces Squadron Returns from Iraq (PHOTOS)

Over the course of their deployment, the Guard airmen endured 15 rocket attacks and more than 100 incidents of small-arms fire.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 142nd Security Forces Squadron arrived at the Portland International Airport Members of the Oregon Air National Guard returned to Oregon on Friday, August 7, 2009 after a six-month deployment to Iraq.

Captain Stephen Bomar, State Public Affairs Officer for the Oregon Guard, says twenty-nine airmen from the 142nd Security Forces Squadron arrived on four separate commercial flights at the Portland International Airport, to throngs of well-wishers, family members and friends.
