15 Casualties Reported Over 14 Days in Afghanistan and Iraq

The average age among the fallen is 25.

(SALEM, Ore.) - KIA: James D. Argentine, Travis T. Babine, Christian A. Guzman Rivera, Jay M. Hoskins, Anthony C. Garcia, Keiffer P. Wilhelm, Ronald G. Luce Jr., Alejandro Granado, Severin W. Summers III, Jonathan M. Walls, Richard K. Jones, Patrick S. Fitzgibbon,  Johnn Reports of American casualties in Afghanistan are frequent in recent days. In this dispatch we learn that nine U.S. Army soldiers, five Marines and one U.S. Navy sailor were killed between July 25 and August 7, 2009.

Thirteen of the deaths occurred during combat operations in Afghanistan. One soldier died from injuries suffered during an anti-tank grenade in Iraq, and one soldier in Iraq died from non-combat related circumstances.

(GARDEN GROVE, Calif.) - U.S. Army soldiers in Iraq If you’re active duty there is a program called the Pre-Discharge Program. This is a joint Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DoD) program that affords service members the opportunity to file claims for disability compensation up to 180 days prior to separation or retirement from active duty or full time National Guard or Reserve duty.

The more information the Veteran can get for him/her self, the greater the control over their claim. That applies to those who are filing their own claims and to those using the services of a Veterans Service Officer.

Lectures and Films Planned in Conjunction with Vietnam War Photo Exhibition

A rare opportunity for Oregonians.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Hallie Ford Museum of Art at Willamette University has planned a variety of free lectures and films for September in conjunction with the exhibition Requiem: By the Photographers Who Died in Vietnam and Indochina, on display August 15 through November 8.

The exhibition features 160 photographs from the collection of the George Eastman House/International Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester, N.Y., taken by photographers who died in Vietnam between 1945 and 1975.

Marine Casualties Heighten in Afghanistan

The cost of the war in Afghanistan in terms of American lives is escalating.

California Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard secured $3.3 million in congressionally directed funding for the program.
