(OCEANSIDE, Calif.) - Our time on the road gathering elements for our upcoming documentary on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has been fruitful so far. We hope to have the program together and on the air later this year. Last summer I visited Iraq for four weeks in order to gather a series of interviews with Marines and soldiers who were still serving out their tours of duty there. These interviews are powerful enough to serve as a framework for a documentary that will educate everyone from young non-deployed soldiers preparing for their first trip overseas, to those who have returned and are now trying to readjust to civilian life. Our most recent interviews took place in Chino, California. The family of Marine Lance Corporal Abraham Simpson, who was killed fighting in Iraq, allowed us into their home to talk about combat veterans who suffer from "survivor's guilt". They also discussed methods and practices for families who have paid the ultimate sacrifice- to survive their own PTSD. We will be heading north after today to record more interviews with individuals involved in PTSD therapy and healing.
