(OAKLAND, Calif.) - We represent the 645 police officers who work hard every day to protect the citizens of Oakland. We, too, are the 99% fighting for better working conditions, fair treatment and the ability to provide a living for our children and families.

We are severely understaffed with many City beats remaining unprotected by police during the day and evening hours.

Did We Win the Iraq War?

Clearly, we cannot continue spending billions of dollars on the Iraq war, a figure that now exceeds $80 billion and climbing.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - President Obama announced that all U.S. troops will be withdrawn from Iraq by the end of the year. Was the “mission accomplished?” Did we win the war?

I for one applaud President Obama's announcement. As of October 31, 2011, 4,482 Americans have died. We cannot continue to waste any more American lives. Our economy is in a shambles. Our deficit is $14.9 trillion and climbing.

(SALEM / GAZA) - The biggest party in the world took place in Palestine yesterday, and it does not look to be over very soon. Some report up to a million people gathered for the huge welcome home celebration of 477 Palestinians released from Israeli prisons.

It was the first of part of the two-phase event that will bring a total of 1027 Palestinians out from behind bars, a deal that Hamas reached with Israel in exchange for Gilad Shalit.

(STEVENSON, Wash.) - Skeletal remains and jewelry located by searchers in the mountains of south Washington last week, have now been positively identified through dental records, as belonging to Marie Hanson, of South Lake Tahoe, California.

Marie Hanson, was last seen during the Rainbow Gathering in early July of this year, a peace gathering in the Skookum Meadows area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
