(EUREKA, Calif.) - Some fellow students of nonviolence from Australia are preparing to launch an effort they call the People's Charter to Create a Nonviolent World, and I am sending this out to all of you in the hope that you will endorse this worthy effort - another link in the chain of nonviolence that can, when it gathers up enough people in its gentle arms, one day break the cycle of violence that threatens to destroy the very world in which we live.

The creators of the People's Charter to Create a Nonviolent World seek to create a worldwide movement to end violence in all its forms.

I know that most of you who get this are already very much engaged in the nonviolent struggle for a better world.  So here is one more worthy effort for us to support.  I also hope that you will share this with others in your networks.

The People's Charter will be launched simultaneously at locations around the world on November 11th.  Here in Seattle, Washington representatives from Veterans for Peace Seattle Chapter 92, Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action and the Puget Sound Nuclear Weapon Free Zone will sign the People's Charter, and we have invited interested individuals and organizations around Puget Sound to join us.

Join us in supporting the People's Charter.  You can learn more about the Charter, download a copy, and see where launch-day events will be held at http://thepeoplesnonviolencecharter.wordpress.com/.  You can also contact the organizers with questions.  Their emails are listed on their homepage.  If you decide to hold a Charter launch event of your own, please let the organizers know so they can list it on their Website.

Once the Charter is launched on November 11th the organizers will launch a signature site where people can sign on in a commitment to act on the principles of the Charter.
