Oregon Man Charged After Firing Gun Into Hatfield Federal Courthouse

Melby made his first appearance in federal court today

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Cody Melby According to the complaint, at approximately 7:35pm on January 8, Melby allegedly jumped over a security fence at the Hatfield Courthouse and, using a 9mm handgun, fired several rounds into the building’s exterior.

Two courthouse security officers exited the building and approached Melby after observing him on a closed-circuit security camera.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Oregon arrests On Friday, January 1, 2021, two groups with opposing ideologies scheduled protests in Salem in separate locations. The event at the Oregon State Capitol was organized by Oregon Women for Trump and was heavily attended by affiliates of the Proud Boys.

Many of the attendees at the state capitol were armed with various weapons, knives, chemical sprays, batons and firearms.

USA Hemp Pilot Programs Extended to 2022

The Controlled Substances Act was amended to exclude hemp from the statutory definition of marijuana.

(SALEM, Ore.) - hemp crop The 2014 Farm Bill has been extended through January 1, 2022 (Sec. 782) with the Dec. 27th signing of the federal Omnibus Spending Bill.

The bill includes protections for the transportation, processing, sale, and use of hemp grown in compliance with the 2014 and 2018 Farm Bills.

Oregon Reports Total COVID Death Toll of 1,433

There are 515 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Oregon

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - COVID-19 COVID-19 has claimed six more lives in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 1,433, the Oregon Health Authority reported today.

The OHA also reported 865 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 110,545.

As of 12:01 a.m. today, Oregon reports 1,339 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases, 21 new deaths
