Three Killed During Morning Crash East of Salem

When emergency crews arrived at the scene the Honda was on fire.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The two adults in the Honda, 33-year old Kelly Byrd and 41-year old Joseph Dominick, both died at the scene of the crash.

Investigators determined Byrd had been driving the Honda southbound on Howell Prairie Road when she crossed into the oncoming lane of travel, striking the 2016 Ram.

(SALEM, Ore.) - AAA finds that the 100 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day are when the number of crash fatalities involving teen drivers rise. This year, the combination of schools closed, activities curtailed, summer jobs canceled, and COVID-19 restrictions being lifted could prove deadly as teens take to the road this summer.

“Our data analysis has found that for every mile driven, new teen drivers ages 16-17 years old are three times more likely to be involved in a deadly crash compared to adults.”

COVID-19 Claims Three More Oregon Lives

Seven of the new total cases are related to the Townsend Farms outbreak.

Falling Tree Kills 13-Year Old Boater at Detroit Lake

An innocent family outing ended in tragedy.

(DETROIT, Ore.) - Sunday afternoon, May 24th, at about 3:40, Marine Patrol deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a boating accident in the Box Canyon area of Detroit Lake. The caller reported two pontoon style boats were near the shoreline tethered together, when the top of a large tree fell, striking both boats.

The caller said at least one person was severely injured and was taken by boat to Mongold State Park for help.

Oregon Health Authority reported 43 new confirmed cases and 3 new presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. today, bringing the state total to 3,927.

Oregon State Supreme Court Says Stay at Home Orders Remain in Place

The Baker County court ruling is now on hold pending further arguments.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - This evening, the Oregon Supreme Court stayed a lower court ruling that invalidated Governor Brown’s recent stay at home executive orders. The orders impose certain requirements and limitations aimed at slowing the spread of the disease.

As a result, the Governor’s executive orders remain in place until further consideration by the court.
