Final Defendant Sentenced for Role in Series of Robberies Targeting Marijuana Traffickers

Crime gang busted for targeting individuals buying cannabis on the black market.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - Salem-News.com In March 2017, law enforcement began investigating a group using assault rifles and other firearms to violently rob individuals set up to sell or purchase large quantities of marijuana or invest in marijuana operations in Oregon.

“In a misguided attempt to avoid detection by law enforcement, Jorge Rubio and his gang of thugs preyed on people they believed would not report their crimes. In doing so, they callously threatened the lives of their targets and risked the safety of the entire community,” said U.S. Attorney Williams.

(GATES, Ore.) - Brad Tyler Masters The incident began in Bend, Oregon, when law enforcement responded to two robberies, a Dutch Bros coffee stand and Domino’s Pizza, and a stolen vehicle.

Oregon State Police Troopers and a Linn County deputy took over the pursuit until the vehicle was finally stopped at approximately 11:45 p.m. with spike strips near mile post 38 on Highway 22, outside the city of Gates.
