Man`s Body Discovered on the Beach North of Newport

The unidentified white male is believed to be approximately forty to fifty years old. Investigators say the body does not appear to have been washed ashore.

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - Death Investigation art Oregon State Police detectives are investigating the suspicious death of an unidentified adult male found Wednesday morning on the ocean shore west of Little Creek Cove in north Newport.

They are working with the the assistance of Newport Police, and Lincoln County's District Attorney and Medical Examiner.

SeaFest Celebration Returns to Oregon Coast this Weekend

The event offers entertaining and educational activities for visitors of all ages, with exhibits, lectures and interactive displays that celebrate the ocean’s bounty and Oregon’s coastal heritage, while seeking to increase public understanding of the marine environment and human impacts.

All events are free and open to the public.

Oregon State Police Looking for Those Taking Dead Whale Parts

Oregon State Parks is working on a plan to remove and/or bury the whale, which will take place in the next few days.

The three met reportedly set sail from Illwaco, Washington on May 22nd at 4:00 AM and were enroute to Newport.

Newport Police Investigating Two Arson Fires

A car, boat and motorcycle were damaged by the fires.

(NEWPORT, Ore. ) - fire investigation logo The Newport Police Department is investigating a series of arson fires that occurred Monday morning.

Police say the first incident occurred just after 2:00 AM. Neighbors to a residence on SW Brook St. near W. Olive St. smelled and heard a fire burning.

They discovered a gas can had been set on fire next to their neighbors home and a parked motorcycle. The fire was reported and extinguished by the same neighbors.

Health Advisory Lifted at Newport`s Nye Beach

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - The advisory was issued on Thursday, May 10th, after water samples at Nye beach showed higher-than-normal levels of enterococcus, a type of fecal bacteria, in the marine water. Subsequent testing showed the contamination had subsided and the waters did not pose a higher-than-normal risk associated with water-contact activities.

State officials encourage recreational activities at all Oregon beaches, suggesting only that water contact be avoided when advisories are in effect.

Rollover Crash at Oregon Coast Sends Four Juveniles to the Hospital

Investigators say alcohol or drugs is NOT suspected as a result of the traffic crash.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore. ) - oregon coast crash The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a single vehicle crash that sent two male juveniles to the hospital with serious injuries.

On Monday, just after 4:00 PM, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, North Lincoln Fire and Pacific West Ambulance responded to the crash on Drift Creek Rd.

When Deputies arrived they learned that a 1997 standard cab Ford Ranger driven by a juvenile male was traveling south on Drift Creek Rd. at an unknown speed.

New Information Released About Body Found on Oregon Beach Sunday

OSP troopers investigating the incident continue to check any known missing person reports to develop leads in identifying the body.

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - body shoe photo Oregon State Police and the Lincoln County Medical Examiner are continuing the investigation into Sunday's discovery of an unidentified badly decomposed body on the beach about two miles south of Waldport.

Additional physical information and a photograph of the shoe believed to be worn by the unidentified person is being released to help in attempts to identify the body.
