New Information Released About Body Found on Oregon Beach Sunday

OSP troopers investigating the incident continue to check any known missing person reports to develop leads in identifying the body.

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - Oregon State Police and the Lincoln County Medical Examiner are continuing the investigation into Sunday's discovery of an unidentified badly decomposed body on the beach about two miles south of Waldport.

Additional physical information and a photograph of the shoe believed to be worn by the unidentified person is being released to help in attempts to identify the body.

According to the Lincoln County Medical Examiner and OSP investigators:

  • The body is of a Caucasian male adult
  • Estimated at least 6'7" tall
  • Was wearing "Sketcher" Urbantrack - Triumphant Style shoes (style #50314), black in color with two vertical gray stripes
  • Shoe estimated at least size 13
  • Shoes laces had gold metal tips

On Sunday, at approximately 12:30 PM, a person walking on the beach about one mile south of Governor Patterson Memorial State Recreation Site saw a body floating in the surf.

OSP, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Yachats Fire & Rescue responded to the scene.

The badly decomposed unidentified body of an adult male was retrieved from the surf. Following an initial inspection at the scene, the body was taken to a local funeral home pending a later examination by the medical examiner.

OSP troopers investigating the incident continue to check any known missing person reports to develop leads in identifying the body.

Anyone with information that may help is asked to contact OSP Northern Command Center dispatch at (800) 452-7888.

A few tips have been phoned into OSP dispatch but none have helped identify the body.
