One Killed, Three Injured in Head-On Crash Near Monmouth

SR 99W was closed for approximately three hours while troopers from the OSP Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the crash.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Fatal crash One person was killed and three others were injured in a two car collision on SR 99W south of Monmouth on Thursday evening.

Around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3rd, State Police troopers from the Salem and McMinnville Areas responded to a reported head on collision on SR 99W and Parker Rd. in Polk county.

Exonerated Death Row Inmate to Speak at WOU

Witness to Innocence is the nation's only organization composed of, by and for exonerated death row survivors and their loved ones.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Juan Melendez-Colon Juan Melendez-Colon, who was exonerated and released from Florida's Death Row after serving more than 17 years for a crime he did not commit, will speak at Western Oregon University Wednesday.

Melendez-Colon has spoken all over the United States and in many foreign counties on behalf of Witness to Innocence.

15-Year Old Monmounth Runaway Located

The boy is home.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Monmouth Police UPDATE: On March 15, 2010 at approx. 6:30 pm Tanner Norton, a runaway juvenile since March 11th, contacted his parents by phone. He stated he was in Portland and asked that they pick him up. Tanner is now home safe with his family.

Vandals Seriously Damage Historic Monmouth Cemetery

Investigators hope someone can help identify who damaged these family grave sites.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Image of cemetery courtesy: Google Earth Graveyard vandals struck a historic Polk County cemetery, a resting place for the ancestors of numerous local families, in the days preceding Christmas.

These so far unidentified vandals caused serious damage which in some cases, when it comes to cemetery vandalism, is irreversible.

First Annual Silent Weekend at WOU Conducted Entirely in ASL

A special event will raise awareness about people who deaf.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Students at Western Oregon University Western Oregon University will hold its first ever Silent Weekend from August 14 to 16 on campus. This weekend, conducted completely in American Sign Language (ASL) is for Deaf and hearing students, interpreters, interpreter educators and ASL instructors.

The weekend will open with a performance of ASL stories, poems and jokes by seven Northwest performers: Brenda Aron, Justin Coleman, Fred Farrior, Patrick Fischer, Brad Houck, Heath Goodall and Carl Schroeder.

Lebanon Man Dies in Crash South of Monmouth

The wife of the man who died in the crash was injured.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Fatal crash investigation A Lebanon-area man was killed and three others injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 99W and Old Fort Road south of Monmouth.

Oregon State Police troopers say on July 24, 2009 at approximately 11:00 a.m. a 2002 Chevrolet Impala four-door driven by 68-year old Robert Henry Primasing of Lebanon, was westbound on Old Fort Road approaching the intersection with Highway 99W.
