The Western Oregon baseball team has seen coaches, student-athletes and even the turf change since entering NCAA Division II in 2002 but through all that one thing has remained constant; the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championship has always belonged to the Wolves.

Wolves sweep Saints to move into tie for first

For the second season in a row the Western Oregon baseball team has used strong starting pitching to spark a late season run. Last year, the Wolves rode that pitching to a 23-game Great Northwest Athletic Conference winning streak, and this year they have won their past seven games, all by holding opponents to three runs or less.

Wolves fall at Hawaii Hilo, 85-78

(HILO, Hawaii) -
The Hawaii Hilo Vulcans put on a timely 13-2 run in the final three minutes to defeat the Western Oregon men's basketball team, 85-78, on Wednesday (Dec. 15).
Blair Wheadon led the Wolves (6-5, 1-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) with 18 points. He scored 15 points in the first half, as he hit 5-of-7 shots from behind the arc. Kyle Long added 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. Tarance Glynn posted 15 points and seven boards, while Kolton Nelson had 10 points and team-leading eight rebounds

Tarance Glynn posted his third straight double-double and Jordan Freelander came off the bench to score a career-high 18 points, but in the end it was a balanced scoring attack and strong second half that earned Central Washington an 87-78 win over Western Oregon in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener on today.

WOU Teacher Education Program Earns National Recognition

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) -
Western Oregon University (WOU) has been named the 2010 recipient of the Christa McAuliffe Award for Excellence in Teacher Education by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), in recognition of exemplary performance in teacher education.
The purpose of the award is two-fold: to recognize excellence in teacher education programs and to advance the field of teacher education by identifying promising practices and critical issues related to measuring the impact of programs on teacher candidate knowledge and the impact of these teachers on pupil learning.

Wolves fall 71-65 to Hawaii Pacific

Four Western Oregon student-athletes scored in double-figures but in the end it was Hawaii Pacific which earned a 71-65 win over Western Oregon in the WOU/Phoenix Inn D2 Shootout on Saturday.
