Phone Stolen from Child of Murder Victim on Christmas Night

It is hard to be one step ahead when you don’t think like a thief.

(SALEM) - Jessie Doyle Cavett Last night, the Grinch showed up in Redmond, Oregon. On Christmas night, a precious little girl who recently lost her mother had her phone, gifts and personal belongings stolen from the family’s vehicle.

27-year old Jessie Doyle Cavett was murdered by her estranged husband on October 12, 2013. Her two children were at the scene, and daughter Peyton was able to call for help. That is an amazing feat in itself, rising above the trauma and finding the rational thought to immediately use the phone. It was especially mature for someone her age. Peyton is five.

Family Alerted of House Fire By Passerby

A woman observed the fire and pounded on the door alerting the residents. Everyone got out safely.

(ALBANY, OR) - Fire in Albany, Oregon Monday at 2:07 p.m. the Albany Fire Department was called to a house fire at 2887 SE Grand Prairie RD. Arriving vehicles saw smoke coming from the house. The fire went to a second alarm about 3:00 p.m. Corvallis Fire, Lebanon Fire and Tangent Fire came to the scene while Jefferson Fire covered the city.

At the time of the fire Spencer Kernats and his daughter Brooklyn 2 Â1/2 were in the house along with their dog Gabby and their cat Mama. Andrea & Mark Ylen were the first at the scene after seeing the fire from across the bridge.

Ending human violence will require us to stop terrorizing our children, giving violent individuals support and safe spaces in which to feel their suppressed fear consciously, and changing institutions, such as the legal system, so that we no longer use fear to try to 'modify' behavior.

Dementia Can Fragment the Family

Flexibility is the byword. One never knows tomorrow's menu of doings, just so long as you don't permit yourself to be done in. Empathy makes that engine chug along and stay on track.

(SALEM) - Salem-News.com I recently spoke to a nephew in Florida about a case of dementia in his family. He asked that I not disclose the name of the person involved, but it's ok to share his dilemma anonymously. It would be a "good education" for all of us, he stated.

Let's call that lady "Martha". She's a retired educator, married with no birth family members living anywhere nearby. Her husband, "Fred", is the principal caretaker.

Small Talk Can Mean a Big Deal

My conclusion as an explorer of human relations is that "small talk" often reaps big positive results.

(SALEM) - Small talk When much, much younger, I mistakenly thought that intelligence was what made me worthwhile as a person. My brain was viewed as my most important functioning organ, and so those feeble attempts to spout "knowledge" drove the engine.

I can recall how at age 8 or 9 my father would march me in front of other adults as a show-and-tell showcase he could glorify about.
