The Price is Right Host Bob Barker Will Retire After Next Season

On April 26th, 2002, Bob broke Johnny Carson’s record for continuous performances on the same network television show. Johnny retired from The Tonight Show after 29 years, seven months and 21 days (10/1/62 – 5/22/92). Bob bypassed that record in 2002 – and is still going strong

(LOS ANGELES ) - The Price is Right Bob Barker who is in his 35th year as host of CBS' The Price Is Right has announced that he will retire after next season.

Not only is The Price is Right America's highest rated daytime game show, it is also the longest running game show in television history, surpassing "What's My Line?" which ran for 18 seasons.

Oregon Composer Featured in November Concert

Willamette University Composer-In-Residence John Peel celebrates his 60th birthday with a performance of one of his works by the Salem Chamber Orchestra (SCO).

(SALEM) - Violin Willamette University Composer-In-Residence John Peel celebrates his 60th birthday with a performance of one of his works by the Salem Chamber Orchestra (SCO).

The November 18th and 19th concerts feature Peel's "Three French Texts for Voice and Chamber Orchestra." Mezzo Soprano Allison Swensen-Mitchell will join the orchestra.

Peel, a Salem resident, is a nationally and internationally known composer. His works have been performed and commissioned by major symphony orchestras including the Seattle Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony and the Oregon Symphony.

Corvallis Fall Festival This Weekend

The 34th annual Corvallis Fall Festival takes place this weekend in Central Park.

(CORVALLIS) - Laura Kemp performer and songwriter The Corvallis Fall Festival includes a major arts and crafts show, children's activities, 1K, 5K and 10K runs, music entertainment such as blues, West African drum and dance, folk, jazz, funk, and more.

Plus, Saturday night there will be a street dance from 6:00-10:00 PM. The group Stairway Denied will perform live music from the legendary rock band, Led Zeppelin.

The festival is free, and runs Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

(SALEM) - Ben Stookesberry onn the rapids Northern Lights Theatre Pub is hosting a special Salem premier of the move Hotel Charlie: No Big Names on Thursday, August 10th.

It is a chance to come and support a native Oregonian.

In 2005, Corvallis native Jesse Coombs left his hometown to join cinematographer Ben Stookesberry in the most extreme river kayking trip of their lives.

Hotel Charley follows the pair on their expeditions through Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, and Guatemala as they, along with a few other experts and some crazy locals, conquer some of the most challenging and awe-inspiring waterfalls in the world.

American Idol Auditions Coming to Seattle’s Key Arena

Salem-area singers who want a shot at becoming the next American Idol superstar won’t have to travel to far for a chance to impress Randy, Paula, and Simon.

(SEATTLE) - American Idol singer Diana Degarmo American Idol begins its search for the next singing superstar and will host auditions in 7 cities across the country starting in August.

Auditions for the sixth edition of American Idol begin in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Aug. 8th, at a location to be named shortly. And raps up Tuesday, September 8th, at Seattle’s Key Arena.

Men and women 16 to 28 years old on Aug. 6th, 2006, and eligible to work in the United States are welcome to audition.

Salem Magician Gaining Recognition (VIDEO)

(SALEM) - Did you know that one of Harry houdini's escape records was beaten by a guy from Salem? Jaskson Rayne, a former student at Willamette University, set the record more than two years ago, when he was chained and submerged into a pool.

With more chains holding him in, Jackson still beat the old record established by Houdini more than 75-years ago.

Today Jackson performs for large audiences in places like Los Angeles and Las Vegas. He even travels abroad visiting places like the Phillipines.

Jackson Rayne's manager is John Strauch of Salem, Oregon. He has been shooting Jackson's performances for a number of years, and brings us the first in a series of videos featuring the talented performing magician.
