(SALEM) - Portland Taiko Ensemble delivers a powerful, thrilling show of carefully choreographed Asian American drumming. In November, Salem Public Library will bring this amazing troupe to Salem for a spotlight show in it's a World of Music at the Library series. Tickets are available now for Portland Taiko Ensemble's show at 7:00 PM Friday, November 3rd in Loucks Auditorium at Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty St. SE. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Tickets are on sale now at all Library Circulation Desks. Established in 1994, Portland Taiko Ensemble is an award-winning Asian American drumming ensemble. Taiko, the Japanese word for drum and the name of the art form, has its roots in ancient Japanese tradition and was used in religious ceremonies, community festivals and theater. Portland Taiko Ensemble takes Asian American music into unexplored territory. The performers weave rhythm, melody, humor and movement together into an exhilarating musical experience. The World of Music at the Library series is sponsored by the Salem Public Library Foundation and the Friends of the Salem Public Library. The series offers seven concerts this year, continuing on the first Friday of each month through April.
