Salem Police Arrest Two in Identity Theft Ring

(SALEM) - Salem Police detectives arrested 27-year old Michael Joshua Ruiz of Keizer and 39-year old Beth Louise Nicolet of Salem, as a result of an investigation into an Identity Theft ring.

Ruiz and Nicolet were located at the Super 8 Motel in Woodburn and a search warrant was served on that room, in which laptop computers, counterfeit checks, stolen checks, drugs and a loaded handgun were found.

Ruiz was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Forgery 1, Criminal Possession of a Forgery Device and 13 counts of Identity Theft.

Op-Ed: Bush`s Plan to Help Fight Meth is Hogwash

In February, the Bush/Cheney team released its proposed budget for the 2007 fiscal year, which cut more than $1.1 billion from core local law enforcement programs, eliminating any chance of helping the meth problem, is anyone still buying this?

(SALEM) - drugs and cash Ask any Oregon cop who works a drug beat how much the federal government has been helping them out in the last few years in their fight against meth. There have been some grants, but instead of helping, the administration has stripped away the funding from local police and that is the last thing they need.

Until recently, the administration paid little heed to the growing meth epidemic that for too long, has grown by the minute.

The Bush administration`s reductions in law enforcement funding sits badly with Oregon State Police Superintendent Ronald C. Ruecker, who visited Washington D.C. in March 2006 with 100 other police chiefs from around the nation to protest the cuts.

Northwest Lawmakers Hail Plan to Fight Meth

The Bush Administration wants to start randomly drug testing American children.

(WASHINGTON AP) - Anti-meth commercial Northwest lawmakers are praising a Bush administration plan to fight meth use.

But politicians from the region also say the administration needs to put its money where its mouth is.

The White House says it wants to cut methamphetamine use in the United States by 15 percent by 2009.

The administration is calling for more cooperation with Mexico and the expansion of random drug testing in schools.

But the White House's current budget proposal cuts federal spending for state and local law enforcement to fight meth by 80 percent.

(ALBANY) - Billy Raymond Bremer and John Edward Dizig Photo: Linn County Sheriff The Linn Drug Task Force just before 9:00 AM executed a search warrant at 406 SE 5th Avenue in Albany Friday morning.

Two Albany men were arrested and seized during the search warrant, were packaging material, drug records, drug paraphernalia, scales, and heroin Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller said.

Talk Show Host Rush Limbaugh Faces Drug Charges

The right wing anti-progressive conservative hero is booked on Fraud charges to "conceal information to obtain prescriptions."

(WEST PALM BEACH) - Rush Limbaugh News outlets across the country are reporting that the granddaddy of conservative talk radio has landed behind bars on more drug related charges.

Rush Limbaugh was arrested Friday, on prescription drug charges, with his attorney saying he has reached a deal with prosecutors that will eventually see the charges dismissed if he continues treatment for drug addiction.

Limbaugh reportedly turned himself in after a warrant was issued by the State Attorney's Office, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the State Attorney's Office.

Detectives Seize Drugs, Guns From Residence, 5-year-old Child Taken Into Protective Custody

(SALEM) - Marion County Street Crimes Detectives, assisted by Salem police and Oregon State Police investigators, served a search warrant at 4527 Boulder Dr SE in Salem as part of an ongoing investigation on Wednesday night.

Sheriff`s spokesman Kevin Rau said detectives arrested 30-year-old Manuel Morales-Beiza and 21-year-old Obet Gomez-Beiza.

Investigators seized 2.5 ounces of methamphetamine and 5 ounces of heroin from the home.
