(SALEM) - For younger kids being removed from suspected drug homes by police, a teddy bear can be a comforting connection to help them in their transition to what is often a new life. For all of the kids, backpacks filled with new clothing and other needed supplies can mean the difference between losing everything and having something to hold onto. The Oregon Narcotics Enforcement Association has stepped up with a donation that the Soroptimist Club is using to buy new backpacks and distribute them to their clubs, statewide, to help kick-start a teddy bear and back pack collection campaign. From June 5th - 10th, Oregon State Police, county and local law enforcement personnel are offering their offices as drop sites for people who want to bring in Teddy Bears and backpacks. With the cooperation of local law enforcement agencies, the Oregon Department of Human Services, the Soroptimists clubs statewide and CARSA, (Community Action to Reduce Substance Abuse), a campaign has been launched to provide teddy bears and other new toys, and backpacks filled with clothing and school supplies, to these drug-endangered children placed in foster care. The following police departments in the Mid-Willamette Valley and on the central coast will serve as drop-off sites for teddy bears and back packs. Albany Police Department Amity Police Department Carlton Police Department Molalla Police Department Monmouth Police Department Mt Angel Police Department Newberg Police Department Newport Police Department Philomath Police Department Salem Police Department Stayton Police Department Sweet Home Police Department Tillamook Police Department Toledo Police Department Turner Police Department Woodburn Police Department Yamhill Police Department Articles for June 1, 2006 | Articles for June 2, 2006 | Articles for June 3, 2006 | googlec507860f6901db00.html Quick Links
