Keizer, Dallas Fire Departments Hosting Annual Breakfast With Santa This Weekend

KIDS! Santa is scheduled to make an appearance at each of the events.

(KEIZER) - Keizer Oregon fire logo The Keizer Volunteer Firefighters Association will hold its annual Breakfast with Santa on Sunday, at the Keizer Fire Station, 661 Chemawa Rd. NE in Keizer.

Hours of the breakfast are 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

The Dallas Volunteer Fire Department's annual "Breakfast with Santa" will be held on Saturday, at the fire station, 915 SE Shelton St.

Pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee and juice will be served from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

TTM Technologies, Inc. Announces Closure of Dallas Facility

In addition to transferring assets to other sites, the company also will sell some of the Dallas property, plant and equipment.

(DALLAS) - TTM Technologies, Inc. a leading manufacturer of time-critical and technologically advanced printed circuit boards (PCBs), has announced plans to close its Dallas, Oregon, facility.

TTM intends to transfer PCB production from its Dallas facility to other company sites, primarily in Logan, Utah, and Redmond, Washington.

The Dallas operation, which mainly has produced commercial printed circuit boards, was part of the Tyco Printed Circuit Group business acquired in October 2006.

Dallas Hospital Flu Shots Will Cost $10 - Not Free as Originally Announced

Those receiving shots must be 18 years of age or older.

(DALLAS) - Flu shot needles West Valley Hospital has determined that it will need to charge $10 for each flu shot, to cover the cost of acquiring the vaccine.

Dallas Children’s Halloween Parade Set

The event is a safe and fun way for kids to trick-or-treat.

(DALLAS) - Trick or treaters The Dallas Children’s Halloween Parade & Trick-or-Treat is Tuesday, October 31st.

Participating Dallas businesses welcome young monsters, maidens, witches and all other costumed characters to trick-or-treat while they parade around the Polk County Courthouse Lawn.

Last year over 200 kids, parents, and even a few dogs participated in the event.

City Hall Day Thursday in Salem, Albany, And Dallas

City Hall Day is being held simultaneously in 20 host cities across Oregon, providing an opportunity for city officials, state lawmakers, and candidates to share ideas and perspectives before the 2007 legislative session.

(SALEM) - Interior of Salem City Hall The Cities of Salem, Albany and Dallas will be hosting a public forum for state legislators, local elected officials, legislative and local office candidates as part of the statewide City Hall Day on Thursday.

The events put state legislators directly in touch with local elected officials, who represent the same constituents, to talk about local concerns that could be affected by state legislative action.

Polk County Announces 2006 Flu Shot Clinic Schedule

No one will be turned away from the clinics due to inability to pay.

(DALLAS) - Flu vaccine Flu season is quickly approaching and Polk County Public Health Officer, Jeff Humphrey, DO is urging people to learn ways to prevent getting sick and to get their flu shot.

The flu season in Oregon, typically starts in the late fall and continues through the winter months, says Humphrey.

It takes approximately 2 to 3 weeks after receiving a flu shot for your body to develop protective immunity against the flu, so he advises people to get their vaccinations in October or early November for the best protection.

Timber Land Thefts Result in Conviction

A Polk County deputy's investigation of stolen forestry equipment around the former town of Valsetz has led to a lenghtly prison sentence for a Monmouth man.

(DALLAS) - Brian Lee Earlier this year, Deputy Jeff Williams of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was assigned to patrol the rural timber areas of Polk County.

Soon Williams began investigating multiple reports of theft and damage to logging equipment belonging to subcontractors working for Forest Capital Partners.

The area that the thefts took place were all near the old town of Valsetz which is located in the S.W. corner of Polk County.

During the investigation, Williams was able to piece the crimes together, and this led to the arrest of 43-year old Brian K. Lee of Monmouth.

New Website Encouragse a Permanent Solution to the Loss of Federal Timber Lands Funding

Polk County, Oregon launched a new website urging lawmakers to find a permanent solution for the loss of Federal Timber Lands funding. Without this funding, the citizens of Polk stand to lose 2.4 million annually in services including teachers, patrol deputies, and human services programs.

(DALLAS) - Logger falling a tree Polk County, Oregon recently launched a new website http://www.co.polk.or.us/OC/default.asp urging lawmakers to find a permanent solution for the loss of federal timber dollars.


The site also provides ways for local citizens to become involved in this effort, as well as background information on the O & C Lands, a photo gallery depicting historic logging in Polk County, and downloadable flyers, petitions, and related documents.

Pipe Bombs Found in The Salem Area

So far the origin of the four explosive devices recovered in Salem remains a mystery, and police are worried that there could be more.

(SALEM) - pipe bomb diagram Salem Police issued an updated release regarding the number of explosive devices that were found in Salem Thursday.

Three pipe bombs were found in Salem, one was recovered in Dallas. No one was injured in the incidents, and no Arrests have been made.
