City Hall Day Thursday in Salem, Albany, And DallasKevin Hays Salem-News.comCity Hall Day is being held simultaneously in 20 host cities across Oregon, providing an opportunity for city officials, state lawmakers, and candidates to share ideas and perspectives before the 2007 legislative session.
(SALEM) - The Cities of Salem, Albany and Dallas will be hosting a public forum for state legislators, local elected officials, legislative and local office candidates as part of the statewide City Hall Day on Thursday. The events put state legislators directly in touch with local elected officials, who represent the same constituents, to talk about local concerns that could be affected by state legislative action. City officials will talk about specific areas of concerns and ask incumbents and candidates about issues important to all Oregon cities such as infrastructure funding, urban renewal, water rights, land use, the 911 tax, right-of-way management, and local revenue-raising authority. Salem City Hall Day will take place from noon to 2:00 PM at the Salem Conference Center, 200 Commercial Street. In Salem, City Hall Day will be held from noon to 2:00 PM at Salem Conference Center, 200 Commercial Street, in the Croisan C Room. In attendance will be Congresswoman Darlene Hooley, Senators Peter Courtney and Jackie Winters, Representatives Vicki Berger, Kevin Cameron and Billy Dalto. Those planning to attend the Albany City Hall Day include State Representative Andy Olson; Representative Sara Gelser and her November election challenger Robin Brown; Mario Magano, who opposes State Senator Frank Morse; Corvallis Mayor Helen Berg; Millersburg Mayor Clayton Wood; Albany City Council candidates Dan Bedore, Ray Hilts, and Wendy Kirbey; Corvallis mayoral candidate Charles Tomlinson; and Albany City Manager Wes Hare. The Albany event will be held at City Hall, 333 Broadalbin Street SW, from 10:00 AM to noon in City Council Chambers. Albany City Council President Doug Killin will serve as moderator. The Dallas City Hall Day event will start with a reception at 6:30 PM and the program will begin at 7:00 PM at the Civic Center, 945 SE Jefferson Street in Dallas.
