Dallas Police Seeking Reserve Officer Candidates

Deadline for turning in applications is 5:00 PM Tuesday, Sept. 5th.

(DALLAS) - Dallas, Oregon PD in action The Dallas Police Department is accepting applications for reserve police officers.

The department offers a four-step program which allows Dallas reserves to begin training with a full-time officer and work up to a solo position after extensive training and assessment.

All reserves are required to complete the Combined Agency Reserve Training, or CART, Reserve Academy held January through May, two nights per week and some Saturdays, in Polk County.

Tyco Factory in Dallas Evacuated Over Fourth Bomb

Four bombs were discovered in the Mid-Willamette Valley Thursday, the latest being found in the Tyco factory parking lot in Dallas.

(DALLAS) - All employees of the Dallas Tyco factory have been evacuated over the reported finding of a suspected explosive device.

Dallas Police Chief James Harper told Salem-News.com that the device was found very close to a parked car by an employee in the Tyco parking lot around 7:45 PM.

Polk County Youth Program Seeking Foster Parents

To become a foster parent, or for more information call the Polk County Youth Program at (503) 623-2042.

(DALLAS) - image: kids playing The Polk County Youth Program is seeking dedicated people who want to become foster parents for at-risk youth.

Caring homes are needed for youths ages 12-18 who have emotional and behavioral issues.

Youths who are part of the Polk County Youth program have progressed through the system, have a criminal record, or are on parole from the Oregon Youth Authority.

The program, however does not accept youths who are considered a danger to the community such as fire setters, and un-treated sex offenders.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Compliance Sweep

Polk County arrested seven different sex offenders in the operation.

(DALLAS) - Polk County, Oregon Sheriff's car Polk County Sheriff’s Office, along with many other Law Enforcement partners conducted its annual County wide sex offender sweep July 11th. The purpose of the sweep is to ensure that convicted sex offenders are complying with required sex offender registration laws.

The annual event utilizes law enforcement teams who locate and contact those registered sex offenders believed to be non-compliant with the sex offender registration laws, especially those offenders determined to be predatory in nature.

Oregon Primate Rescue Receives Much Needed Funding From PETCO Foundation

Oregon Primate Rescue, located in Dallas, will use the money to finish expansion of an enclosure area for its most recent rescue of a Patas monkey.

(DALLAS) - The PETCO Foundation’s annual Spring-A-Pet, which ended April 16, exceeded $1.7 million in donations.

Throughout the 4-week fundraiser, customers visiting one of PETCO’s more than 790 stores could purchase “Spring-A-Pet’ donation cards in denominations of $1, $5, $10 and $20, or round up their purchase. Donors of $20 or more received a “Making a Difference” picture frame.

(DALLAS) - West Valley Hospital will hold its first "Go Red for Women" event, Thursday, March 16th, 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM, in the hospital's conference room at 525 SE Washington Street in Dallas. This event is free and open to the public and

"The signs of heart attack are different for women and men," says Jon Pelkey, director of cardiac services at Salem Hospital and West Valley Hospital. "It's imperative that every woman learn the symptoms of a heart attack and learn how to prevent one from occurring.

Polk County Issues Bacterial Meningitis Health Alert

(Dallas) - Polk County health officials have issued a public health alert after a 15-year-old contracted bacterial meningitis on Feb. 23rd.

Officials say the person is recovering at a local hospital, and all contact`s have been given preventative medications.
