Gus Bermudez named Cascade Collegiate Conference Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Corban WarriorsFor the second straight week, the league office announced Monday that junior forward Gus Bermudez (Culver City, Calif.) has named Cascade Collegiate Conference Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week following his performance over the weekend against Evergreen and Northwest.

"Gus prides himself in taking advantage of all goal-scoring situations and he has clearly made the most of those opportunities this season," said first-year head coach Paul Meehan.

Steve Landis named Cascade Collegiate Conference Red Lion Male Golfer of the Week

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Corban WarriorsAfter posting the best finish of his career at last week's Pacific Invitational, senior Steve Landis (Gladstone, Ore.) was named Cascade Collegiate Conference Red Lion Male Golfer of the Week by the league office on Monday.

"Steve did a great job of playing within himself, especially because he has had some physical problems as of late," said sixth-year head coach Ron Sisler. "He battled and that's all you can ask of a player. I was proud of him!"

(IRVINE, Calif. ) - Salem-News.com SportsThe 17th-ranked Oregon State women's soccer team bounced back after its first loss of the season Friday night with a decisive 3-0 shutout of UC Riverside Sunday morning at the Anteater Invitational in Irvine, Calif.

"It was kind of a taxing day today," Oregon State women's soccer head coach Linus Rhode said following the 3-0 shutout over UC Riverside. "We held our composure and stuck to the game plan. When we got our chances we capitalized and put the ball away."

Concordia Routs Geoducks for Third Straight Win

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Concordia University AthleticsWith a 3-0 win over Evergreen State, Concordia completed a weekend home sweep inside the Cavalier Gymnasium on Saturday evening.

With the win, CU improved to 9-6 on the season and 5-2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The Geoducks fell to 3-8 overall and 2-5 in the CCC.

(Corvallis, Ore.) - Salem-News.com SportsFreshman Mona Kressl (Langenzenn, Germany) had a solid all-around performance for the Oregon State volleyball team (8-8, 1-1 Pac-10) as it won 3-1 (25-15, 24-26, 25-22, 25-15) over Washington State on Saturday evening in legendary Gill Coliseum.

"The key was that we really let that second set go," head coach Taras Liskevych said. "Washington State did a great job blocking us at the end of the second set, but we didn’t lose our composure. We came out and played very well in set three and played outstanding in set four. In set four we sided out as well as we have all year.

College Men's Soccer Saturday, September 25, 2010 At Sparks Field Salem

(Salem, Oregon) - Salem-News.com SportsWillamette improved to 3-4-1 overall, 1-2-0 in the Northwest Conference. George Fox fell to 0-5-1 overall, 0-3-0 in the NWC.

The game was scoreless at halftime. Willamette's first goal was scored by Brendan Dineen (Jr., D, Portland, OR/Grant HS) at 65:21 on a 25-yard free kick from 10 yards inside the left sideline. The kick was sent on the ground into the penalty area, where it was allowed to continue on its path by a Willamette player, and went into the far right corner of the goal. It was Dineen's third goal of the season.

Bruins Finish 8th in One-Day Event at Michelbook CC

The Bruins shot 333 as a team on the par 72, 6,572-yard course

(McMINNVILLE, Oregon) - Salem-News.com SportsJunior Mike Ulstad shot an eight-over-par 80 to tie for 22nd place and lead the scoring for the George Fox University Bruins, who finished eighth in the one-day Linfield College Invitational Men’s Golf Tournament Friday afternoon here at the Michelbook Country Club course.

The Bruins shot 333 as a team on the par 72, 6,572-yard course. Host Linfield edged Pacific University 300 to 302, with Warner Pacific College and Whitman College tying for third at 304. Corban College was a close fifth with a 305 score, followed by Northwest Christian University at 321, Concordia University-Portland at 322, and then George Fox.
