"The key was that we really let that second set go," head coach Taras Liskevych said. "Washington State did a great job blocking us at the end of the second set, but we didn’t lose our composure. George Fox fell to 0-5-1 overall, 0-3-0 in the NWC.
The game was scoreless at halftime. Willamette's first goal was scored by Brendan Dineen (Jr., D, Portland, OR/Grant HS) at 65:21 on a 25-yard free kick from 10 yards inside the left sideline. The kick was sent on the ground into the penalty area, where it was allowed to continue on its path by a Willamette player, and went into the far right corner of the goal. The Bruins shot 333 as a team on the par 72, 6,572-yard course. Host Linfield edged Pacific University 300 to 302, with Warner Pacific College and Whitman College tying for third at 304.
