Eagles Defeat Oregon Tech in Four

(KIRKLAND, Wash.) - The NU Eagles defeated a feisty Oregon Tech team, 3-1 (25-15, 24-26, 25-16, 25-22), tonight in a CCC contest in the Pavilion.

The first set saw NU jump out early, 11-2, on the Owls and the Eagles would maintain their lead the entire set, increasing their lead to 17-7 after an OIT attack error and a service ace by NU's Alexa Brown. With the score 23-12, the team would trade scores to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the match.

(Newberg, OR) - After a 5-4 start to the 2010 season, all against non-conference opponents, the Bruins finally turn their attention to Northwest Conference action - although they do have one final non-league contest against Concordia-Portland coming up Tuesday. The Bruins open NWC play at Lewis & Clark Friday before playing their home NWC opener at the Wheeler Sports Center/Miller Gym Saturday vs. Willamette. All three games start at 7:00 p.m., with live stats and live video streaming provided for each. There will be no KFOX radio audio for the games this week.

Oregon State softball team’s first win of the season

Oregon State broke it wide open in the top of the sixth, scoring four runs on three hits and capitalizing on one Notre Dame error.

(Tempe, Ariz.) - A big sixth inning helped secure the Oregon State softball team’s first win of the season over Notre Dame, 7-3, on Saturday evening in the team’s fourth game of the Kajikawa Classic.

The Beavers (1-3) scored their seven runs on 10 hits, tallying a pair of extra base hits and stealing three. Three Oregon State players had two hits each.

Men's Basketball: Wolves Survive Second Half Scare to Defeat Orediggers 71-66‏

The Western Oregon men's basketball team will now enjoy the holiday break before returning to competition, Dec. 29th, against Utah State.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - The Wolves' starting backcourt combined for 48 points as Western Oregon held on for a 71-66 win over Colorado School of Mines, 71-66, Saturday, Dec. 19. The win moved WOU's record to 6-2 as CSM fell to 4-5.

The game was a story of two halves. Western Oregon pushed a 19-point halftime lead to 24 points early in the second period, only to see its lead cut to two points on a 25-3 run by the Orediggers. The Wolves then responded with a 7-0 run, to extend their lead back to nine.

(HONOLULU, Hawai’i) - After opening the game with a 16-0 run, the George Fox University Bruins went ice-cold and allowed Chaminade University to come all the way back before rallying in the second half to defeat the Silverswords 57-39 in the Hoop N Surf Women’s Basketball Classic.

George Fox, ranked 12th in the WBCA’s NCAA Division III poll and 18th in the D3hoops.com poll, improved to 6-2 on the season, while Chaminade, an NCAA Division II team, dropped to 1-4.

Oregon State Women’s Basketball Stymies UC Irvine In Victory Tuesday Night

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Senior Julie Futch tied her career-best with 15 points and the Oregon State women’s basketball team used a strong defensive effort and a big rebounding advantage to defeat UC Irvine, 58-42, Tuesday night at legendary Gill Coliseum.

Futch tied her previous best of 15 achieved three nights ago in the Beavers’ victory over Weber State. That 15-point effort had surpassed her previous high of 13 achieved two years against Washington.
