Terrelle Pryor Signs With Ohio State

Pryor totaled 4,238 career rushing yards and 4,340 career passing yards, a first in the state of Pennsylvania.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - Terrelle PryorTerrelle Pryor, rated as the nation’s most outstanding high school quarterback, signed a national letter-of-intent Wednesday to attend The Ohio State University.

The dual-threat signalcaller from Jeannette (Pa.) High School led the 16-0 Jayhawks to the PIAA and WPIAL football championships. A 2,000 career point scorer in basketball, Pryor also helped the Jeannette basketball team to WPIAL and PIAA titles, a first for any team from western Pennsylvania.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - hayward fieldSeven state champions and one national prep leader are among eight men’s and women’s track and field athletes signed to national letters of intent to compete at the University of Oregon beginning in the 2008-09 school year.

Four men and four women are included among the school’s first signees of the year who could make immediate impacts as Oregon freshmen in the sprints, jumps, hurdles, and middle distance and distance events.

5 Willamette Athletes Named Player of the Week

Nikki Franchi is 4-2 with a 1.24 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings pitched this season.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Nikki Franchi A total of five Willamette University athletes have been honored by the Northwest Conference for their efforts in spring sports during the week ending March 16.

Nikki Franchi (Jr., RHP/DP, Los Gatos, CA/Saratoga HS) was chosen NWC Softball Player of the Week. Kyle Kotaich (So., Florence, OR/Siuslaw HS), Jena Winger (Jr., Bonney Lake, WA/Sumner HS), Grant Piros (Jr., Newberg, OR/Newberg HS) and Brooke Smith (Jr., Idleyld Park, OR/Glide HS) were selected as NWC Athletes of the Week in track and field.

Steve Nash added 22 points and eight assists for the Suns, who remained a game behind the division-leading Los Angeles Lakers in the Pacific Division.

Oregon is now 12-8 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and 6-4 under current head coach Ernie Kent. Oregon is making the 10th NCAA Tournament appearance in school history and the fifth under Kent.

Roderfeld went 7-for-13, scoring six runs in the Beavers’ perfect 5-0 week.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Audrey RoderfeldFreshman catcher Audrey Roderfeld was named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 11-17, announced Tuesday by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen.

Roderfeld, a Vista, Calif., native, had a powerful week posting a 1.154 slugging percentage behind two home runs, including her first career grand slam in the first game of the doubleheader against Northern Illinois.

A kitesurfer or kiteboarder uses a board with foot-straps or bindings, combined with the power of a large controllable kite to propel himself or herself and the board across the water. The sport is still in its infancy, but it is rapidly growing worldwide.

Willamette - George Fox Split Baseball Doubleheader

Bruins win opener, 6-5; Willamette takes nightcap, 11-2.

(NEWBERG, Ore. ) - Colin YoungColin Young hit a three-run homer in the first inning and added a solo homer in the seventh, leading Willamette University to an 11-2 win over Northwest Conference leader George Fox University in the second game game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Morse Field.

George Fox scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the first game, 6-5.
