CORVALLIS, Ore. - Freshman catcher Audrey Roderfeld was named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 11-17, announced Tuesday by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen.

Roderfeld, a Vista, Calif., native, had a powerful week posting a 1.154 slugging percentage behind two home runs, including her first career grand slam in the first game of the doubleheader against Northern Illinois. She hit back-to-back shots over left field against the Huskies, earning three RBI in the second game with her two-run homer and her pair of doubles, going a perfect 3-for-3 with extra base hits.

She extended her hitting streak to six games, her longest thus far on the season, while posting a .571 on-base percentage on a .538 batting average.

On defense, Roderfeld recorded 26 putouts, including a career-high 11 against Mississippi Valley State in game one of the doubleheader, to continue to be one of two players with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on the season for the Beavers.

Overall on the week, she went 7-for-13, scoring six runs in the Beavers’ perfect 5-0 week, including winning three games in one day for the first time in school history.

This is Roderfeld’s first Player of the Week honor, and it marks the first time during the 2008 season that an Oregon State player has been honored, the 33rd all-time.

Oregon State begins play in the Spring Fling Tournament on Friday as the team travels to Portland to face Idaho State in a single game beginning at 3:00 p.m.
