(SAN FRANCISCO) - The Oregon State women’s basketball team utilized a balanced approach, shooting well from the field and controlling the boards in a 83-66 win over San Francisco Wednesday night at War Memorial Gymnasium.
The Beavers shot better than 54 percent from the field, just below their season high of 54.4 percent achieved in the season opener against Sacramento State. Oregon State, meanwhile, finished with 45 rebounds to San Francisco’s 28, improving to 4-0 this season when out-rebounding its opponent.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - The Oregon State men’s basketball team concludes a stretch of four games in nine days as the Beavers travel to Fresno, Calif., to take on Fresno State on Sunday, Nov. 30th, at 2:00 PM. The game can be heard over the Beaver Sports Radio Network with Jon Warren providing the call.
Oregon State enters with a record of 0-4 on the year after a heartbreaking, 82-79 overtime loss to Montana State on Wednesday. Rickey Claitt and Roeland Schaftenaar had career nights in the loss as Claitt scored a career-high 21 points with Schaftenaar recording a career-high 18 points.

The Cavs committed 11 turnovers to just six for the Tigers. (TACOMA, Wash.) - Led by 21 points by Keith Murray, Wittenberg defeated Concordia 70-67 in men's basketball action at the Pacific Northwest Lutheran Invitational Tournament held at Pacific Lutheran University on Friday.
With the loss, CU dropped to 4-2 on the season while Wittenberg evened its record to 1-1.
A Seth Hill fast-break layup with 10:35 left in the first period would put the Tigers up 19-13 for Wittenberg's largest lead of the game. Capped by a bucket deep in the paint by Jourdan Sweeney, the Cavs powered back with a13-2 run to create a seven-point lead of their own.

The Beavers also had four blocks in the first half – equaling their total this season entering the game – with Ducker and Mitchell both posting two. (FREEPORT, Grand Bahamas) - Brittney Davis finished with 16 points, Tiffany Ducker scored a season-high 14 points and the Oregon State women’s basketball team held off a strong second-half surge from Arkansas for a 69-56 victory over the Razorbacks in the Beavers’ first game of the Junkanoo Jam at St. Georges High School.
Davis finished with 14 second-half points after posting just two in the first half. She finished the game 4-for-12 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line, connecting four straight with less than six minutes remaining in the second half.

(LINCOLN, Neb.) - Senior Heinrich Barnes (Pretoria, South Africa) was the lone Beaver wrestler to score bonus points with a technical fall, but Oregon State fell to No. 6 Nebraska, 34-8, on Friday evening.
Barnes controlled the match against Chris Hacker from the beginning before scoring three straight near falls in the second period. Hacker’s only points were on escapes.
Also winning a match for the Beavers was redshirt freshman Kelly Kubec (Lake Stevens, Wash.), who recorded a 7-2 decision over Matt Vacanti at 133 pounds. Kubec also tallied a near fall right before time expired.

The Bearcats dropped to 0-3 overall, while CMS improved to 2-1.
Kyler McClary (Sr., Post, Hillsboro, OR/Glencoe HS) led WU with 14 points. Cameron Mitchell (Jr., Post, Portland, OR/Grant HS/University of Redlands) scored 11 points and hauled down 11 rebounds.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Senior Ashley Evans (West Linn, Ore.) had 20 digs to lead the Beaver offense, but the Oregon State volleyball team fell to No. 2 Stanford in three on Friday evening in the team’s last match of the 2008 season.
Set scores were 26-28, 18-25, 19-25.
“A great congratulations to the three seniors,” head coach Taras Liskevych said. “They’ve been great for the program – the epitome of what a student-athlete is about. We played really well throughout the match, especially in the first set. We were relaxed and had a good demeanor, and I was happy with that. Overall it was a great effort and we look forward to next year.”

(CALDWELL, Idaho) - The first half, the Mounties came out slow at against bthe Wildcats of Linfield College at the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic; however they managed to go into the second half tied 36-36, due to a late three pointer by EOU's freshman Brianna Smith.
The second half Eastern came out with more energy beating the Wildcats 79-73. Three players were key for the Mountaineers. Junior forward Ashlee Michelson had 20 points and showed her post presence in the key tonight. Junior Salena Leavitt had a career high 25 points. Her points came from driving and finding a way to get to the hole.

(HONOLULU, Hawaii) - A huge disparity in free throws proved costly to the George Fox University Bruins as they dropped a 76-70 decision to the California Lutheran University Kingsmen on the first day of action in the Surf’s Up Invitational Men’s Basketball Tournament Friday afternoon here at Kalani High School.
George Fox was whistled for almost twice as many fouls as Cal Lutheran, 27 to 14, resulting in 33 free throw attempts and 20 made for the Kingsmen to only nine attempts and six makes for the Bruins. That made a significant difference as the Bruins sank only one less field goal than the Kingsmen, 26 to 27, and connected on 12 three-pointers to only two for Cal Lutheran.
