Womens Basketball: Cascade Conference WBB: EOU over Linfield 79-73‏

EOU will face Willamette University tomorrow for the second day of the tournament at 1:00 PM MST to finish the Lady Yote Classic.

CALDWELL, Idaho - The first half, the Mounties came out slow at against the Wildcats of Linfield College at the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic; however they managed to go into the second half tied 36-36, due to a late three pointer by EOU's freshman Brianna Smith.

The second half Eastern came out with more energy beating the Wildcats 79-73. Three players were key for the Mountaineers. Junior forward Ashlee Michelson had 20 points and showed her post presence in the key tonight. Junior Salena Leavitt had a career high 25 points. Her points came from driving and finding a way to get to the hole.

Smith also was in double figures for the Mounties, and just short of a double-double with 15 points and pulling down 9 boards. "She really stepped it up the second half and had her head in the game," stated assistant coach Jami Huntsman. Senior Jenny Fiso pulled down 7 boards and had 4 steals for the Mountaineers. A key player for EOU, Tana Stickney had limited minutes due to getting sick this week.

EOU will face Willamette University tomorrow for the second day of the tournament at 1:00 PM MST to finish the Lady Yote Classic. Next the Mounties will hit the road for the start of conference play against Southern Oregon and Oregon Institute of Technology on December 5th and 6th at 5:30 PM.
