OSU Women's Track and Cross Country Sign Three‏

The Lopez twins have only been running for just over a year.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - OSU logoOregon State women's track and cross country has received three letters of intent for the 2009-2010 seasons as announced by head coach Kelly Sullivan.

The incoming class is a unique cast of athletes. Sullivan didn't recruit on gaudy times and accomplishments, but rather on upside, potential and enthusiasm for running.

Warriors Use Pitching and Long Ball to Sweep Bruins.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - Corban logoErin Sailors threw a one-hit shutout in the opening game and the Corban College Warriors smacked three home runs in the second game, earning the sweep of a non-conference softball doubleheader 3-0 and 6-3 over the George Fox University Bruins Friday afternoon here at Morse Field.

The twinbill had originally been scheduled for Thursday in Salem, Ore., but recent rains made the Warriors’ field, which has no tarp, unplayable, so the coaches of the two teams agreed to move to Newberg on Friday, with George Fox as the home team.

Cascade Conference Concordia Softball Stays Undefeated with Pair of Wins at SOU Tournament‏

Pulfrey Gem Stymies Eagles at SOU Tournament.

(MEDFORD, Ore.— ) - Concordia University logoThe Concordia softball team improved to 7-0 on the year by defeating Concordia-Irvine 5-1 at the Southern Oregon Invitational held at US Cellular Park on Friday.

In the morning game, Danielle Pulfrey pitched a complete game for the win, allowing three hits and a single unearned run. The junior hurler struck out nine batters and issued three walks.

WOU Softball] Wolves Take Doubleheader from Crusaders, 7-3 and 12-0‏

Western Oregon jumped on NNU's pitching in the top of the first, scoring three runs, with the big blow coming on a one-out two-run homer by cleanup batter Jessica Hallmark.

(NAMPA, Idaho) - Western Oregon University logoAmanda Fleer went 5-for-7 in the doubleheader as the Western Oregon University softball team took two games from Northwest Nazarene, 7-3 and 12-0, Friday, Feb. 27, at Halle Field.

The wins moved Western Oregon to 4-2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference as NNU fell to 1-5.

Willamette had two shots at winning the game. Kunke missed an off balance jumper with two seconds left. Cameron Mitchell (Jr., Post, Portland, OR/Grant HS/U. of Redlands) tipped the rebound and the ball rolled off the rim as time expired.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The University of Puget Sound men's basketball team finished the 2008-09 Northwest Conference season with an undefeated record -- barely -- as the Loggers rallied from a 15-point deficit with 8:34 remaining to defeat Willamette University, 75-74, at Cone Field House on Saturday, Feb. 21.

UPS concluded the regular season with a 22-2 overall record and went 16-0 in the NWC.

OSU Gymnasts Take Third at Washington

The Beavers’ vaulters made a valiant comeback attempt just missing their season-high scoring 49.150.

(SEATTLE, Wash.) - OSU logoOregon State, ranked No. 9, finished third at No. 24 Washington in a quadrangular meet. The Beavers finished with a score of 195.800 while the Huskies won the meet with a season-high score of 196.000. No. 14 Illinois finished with a score of 195.900 and Eastern Michigan scored 191.475. Mandi Rodriguez tied her career-high in the all-around with a 39.500 to win the event.

The Beavers began the night on the uneven bars and appeared to be headed for a stellar night posting a season-high team score of 49.300.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - George Fox University logoFor the second day in a row, the George Fox University Bruins spotted the Concordia University-Portland Cavaliers a big early lead, but this time the Bruin bats awoke in time to come back for a 16-9 victory in a non-conference baseball game Saturday afternoon here at Morse Field.

George Fox took an early 1-0 lead against Concordia righthander Ben Rue (0-1) in the 1st inning as matt Wyckoff doubled and Bo Thunell singled him home.

Carmichael Earns First Top-10 Finish in Truck Series Rookie Runs Eighth in His Second Career Start after Starting Third.

(FONTANA, Calif.) - Ricky Carmichael and the No. 33 Monster Energy KHI All-Stars team finished the San Bernardino County 200 at Auto Club Speedway in eighth place, a career-best finish for Carmichael in only his second career start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Kyle Busch won the race, followed by Todd Bodine and Chad McCumbee in third. Carmichael was the top-finishing rookie of the race.
