Oregon State Women’s Basketball Drops Decision To No. 4 Stanford

Rhea led the Beavers with seven first-half points – the final three coming on a three-pointer – and Davis, Mitchell and Kassandra McCalister all posted four.

(STANFORD, Calif.) - OSU Beavers logoThe Oregon State women’s basketball team dropped a 72-43 decision to fourth-ranked Stanford Thursday night at Maples Pavilion.

Brittney Davis led the Beavers with 12 points after connecting on five baskets from the field, including two three-pointers. The senior has now finished in double figures in her last nine games, a streak that started Jan. 17 against Washington.

WOU Men's Basketball: Central Washington 87, Western Oregon 69‏

Travis Kuhns led WOU with 16 points as he went 5-of-11 from the field and 5-of-5 at the free throw line.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - WOU logoCentral Washington collected 28 offensive rebounds en route to earning an 87-69 victory over Western Oregon in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference showdown Thursday, Feb. 19.

With the win Central Washington, which is ranked in the NCAA west region, improved to 15-5 on the season and to 9-3 in the GNAC. The loss drops Western Oregon to 9-14 and 3-9 in the conference.

Oregon State Women’s Basketball ‘Pink Zone’ Game A Success

It was the second straight year the Beavers participated in the event, and more than 1,000 schools nationwide held a “Pink Zone” game this year or are scheduled to.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - The Oregon State women’s basketball team raised $5,500 for the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund through its “Pink Zone” game last Saturday against Washington State at legendary Gill Coliseum.

The Beavers defeated the Cougars, 52-42, to earn their 15th win of the season. In the process, nearly 1,700 fans passed through the doors at Gill Coliseum, with most wearing pink in honor of Yow, the former North Carolina State women’s basketball head coach who passed away Jan. 24 from breast cancer.

Kevin Rhoderick Selected To Stopper Of The Year Watch List

A native of Scottsdale, Ariz., he was named to the Lousiville Slugger preseason All-America Third-Team in December.

(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.) - Kevin RhoderickOregon State sophomore right-handed closer Kevin Rhoderick has been named to the Stopper of the Year Watch List by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, it was announced Wednesday.

Rhoderick became just the third Oregon State player to record 10 or more saves in a single-season when he finished with 12 last year as a freshman.

He posted an 0-1 record and 2.39 earned run average in 20 appearances last season.

WOU Men's Basketball: Western Oregon 72, Montana State Billings 71‏

The Western Oregon men's basketball team will now head to Central Washington to take on the Wildcats Saturday, at 7:00 p.m.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Matt Schmidt hit one of two free throws with 2.1 seconds remaining to propel the Western Oregon University men's basketball team to a 72-71 victory over Montana State Billings, Thursday, Feb. 5.

The win snapped the Wolves six-game losing streak as they improved to 10-11 on the season and 2-6 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. With the loss, the Yellowjackets fell to 9-10 on the year and to 4-4 in league.

Three-Pointers, Mitchell’s Double-Double Carry Oregon State Women’s Basketball Past Arizona

Naturally, Rhea and Davis led the Beavers in scoring in the half. Davis had 12 points on her four three-pointers, while Rhea was second with nine points.

(TUCSON, Ariz.) - OSU logoThe Oregon State women’s basketball team hit on a combined eight three-pointers, including seven in the first half, and Alex Mitchell finished with her first double-double of the season in a 63-55 victory over Arizona Thursday night at the McKale Center.

Mitchell grabbed the team’s second double-double of the season, posting 15 points and a season-high 12 rebounds, just two off tying her career high of 14 achieved last season against Oregon. Of her 15 points, nine came off free throws in the second half.

WOU Men's Basketball: Alaska Fairbanks 79, Western Oregon 76‏

After McLaughlin missed a three-pointer Anderson was fouled and went to the free throw line and sank both shots. After Kelly converted on a lay-up to bring the Wolves within three, WOU had three more three-point attempts to tie the game but each bounced off the rim.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Western Oregon Univ logoThe Western Oregon University men's basketball team was held without a field goal for nearly eight minutes in the second half during which time Alaska Fairbanks was on a 21-4 run as it went on to win 79-76.

The loss dropped WOU to 1-4 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and to 7-9 on the season. With the win Alaska Fairbanks upped its record to 5-10 on the year and to 2-4 in the GNAC.

(TACOMA, Wash.) - George Fox University logoOvercoming 10 three-point field goals by Pacific Lutheran University with a 16-free throw advantage, the 10th-ranked George Fox University Bruins overcame the Lutes 61-55 for their 17th consecutive victory in a Northwest Conference women’s basketball thriller Saturday evening here at Olson Auditorium.

George Fox held Pacific Lutheran to only a three by Jen Sorenson in the game’s first eight minutes as the Bruins built up an 11-3 lead, fueled by six points by Keisha Gordon.

Puget Sounds Pulls Away in Second Half to Defeat Bearcats, 100-62

Loggers Remain Undefeated in NWC.

(TACOMA, WASH.) - Willamette University logoThe University of Puget Sound went on a 16-2 run in the first 3:41 of the second half, as the Loggers pulled away from Willamette University for a 100-62 Northwest Conference victory on Saturday, Jan. 24. Puget Sound, ranked 11th by D3Hoops.com, improved to 15-2 on the season, 8-0 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 8-7 overall, 4-4 in the NWC.

Willamette trailed 45-34 at halftime. The run by the Loggers at the start of the second half gave UPS a 61-36 advantage with 16:19 left in the game.
