(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - The Western Oregon University softball team swept a doubleheader from Great Northwest Athletic Conference rival Saint Martin's 8-1 and 3-2, Sunday (Mar. 8) to take three out of four in the series.
The wins moved the Wolves record to 8-4 on the season and in the conference as the Saints fell to 2-15 and 1-11 in conference.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Shannon Palmer (Fr., Salem, OR/Sprague HS) achieved a combined record of 4-0 to lead Willamette University to a pair of women's tennis victories on Sunday, March 8 at the Courthouse Tennis Club.
In the morning match, WU held off the College of Idaho for a 5-4 win. The Bearcats also won the afternoon match, as they downed George Fox University, 8-1. Palmer won two matches at #1 singles and two matches at #1 doubles during the day.

On the day, junior Dani Chisholm (Boring, Ore.) went 4-for-6 on the day with a double and a run, batting .667. Defensively, sophomore Erin Guzy (Beaverton, Ore.) recorded 12 putouts and was errorless.

(TUALATIN, Ore.) - Willamette University surged past George Fox University, 7-2, on Saturday, March 7, in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match played at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center. The win improved the Bearcats to 5-2 overall, 5-2 in the NWC. George Fox fell to 0-9 overall, 0-2 in the conference.
Cody Ferguson (Fr., North Bend, OR/North Bend HS/Western Oregon Univ.) of Willamette continued his solid play for the Bearcats.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Willamette University was off to a great start in its doubleheader at Lewis & Clark College on Sunday, March 1, but the weather interfered, forcing the first game to be suspended with WU leading 15-2 with one out in the top of the fifth inning. Rain eventually made conditions unplayable. No date was immediately chosen to complete the doubleheader of Northwest Conference games.
Willamette held a 13-8 advantage in hits, including home runs by Kyle Stalker (Sr., 1B, Bellevue, WA/Sammamish HS) and T.C. Lee (So., LF, Lafayette, CA/Acalanes HS). Stalker led off the fourth inning with a solo homer. Lee smacked a grand slam in the fifth inning.

Head coach Pat Casey said. “He started the game off well and we had three other good efforts from our relievers on a day when we didn’t have much offense. You have to give credit to their pitching staff for holding us to two hits.”

The win was the third straight for the Wolves as they improved to 5-4 on the season. The loss drops Saint Martin's to 5-6.
