(McMINNVILLE, Ore.) - A battle between two nationally ranked teams Saturday afternoon at Maxwell Field lived up to its billing.
The No. 15 Linfield Wildcats outgunned 19th-ranked Hardin-Simmons 52-42, led by a career day from quarterback Trevor Scharer, who piled up 511 passing yards and six touchdowns.
Scharer spread out 32 completions to 10 different receivers, surpassing his career-high of 443 yards against Southern Oregon in 2006.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Junior quarterback Grant Leslie and senior running back C.J. Washington each scored a rushing touchdown, and the Willamette University defense allowed just 115 total yards, as the Bearcats defeated California Lutheran University, 14-7, Saturday at McCulloch Stadium.
WU and CLU almost played a scoreless first half, but the Bearcats drove 80 yards on 14 plays to set up Leslie's 1-yard touchdown run with six seconds left in the second quarter.

(NEW YORK) - The NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting that New York Jets quarterback Kellen Clemens will start Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens in place of injured starter Chad Pennington.
Pennington injured his ankle while being tackled last Sunday against the New England Patriots. Sunday will be the first career start for Clemens, the second-year backup out of Oregon.

Sophomore Kendra Chandhoke also scored for Portland, which improves to 4-1-0 on the season.
Chandhoke, who replaced the injured Rachael Rapinoe in Portland’s starting line up, scored the first goal of the night with a strike in the 25th minute.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Sophomore Jessica Matthews scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season, as Corban's women's soccer team opened its 2007 Cascade Collegiate Conference season with a 1-0 victory on Friday over the Lady Thunderbirds of Cascade.
For the eighteenth consecutive game dating back to 1989, the Warrior women's soccer program walked away from a game against Cascade with a win.
As a team, the Warriors out-shot their opponent, 12-5, including 7-3 in shots on goal.

(LOS ANGELES) - Whitney Goodell’s first goal of the season, coming at the 74th minute, proved to be the game-winner as the Oregon State women’s soccer team defeated Michigan, 1-0, Friday at the LMU/Four Points Sheraton Culver City Classic.
Goodell’s shot, which was unassisted, found the top corner of the net off a left-footer.
After five games, Oregon State has outscored its opponents, 10-4, en route to a 4-1 overall record.

Sophomore Bree Knitter had an impressive serving game for the second straight match giving the Lions a fit in game one, putting the Beavers up 21-13 after 12 straight jump serves.
Knitter set a new career high with three service aces in the match, all coming in the stretch.
