(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - The University of Oregon volleyball team had its 10-match winning streak snapped on Friday afternoon in a 3-1 (27-30, 30-18, 27-30, 28-30) loss to Purdue at the Big Ten/Pac-10 challenge at St. John Arena.
The Ducks were an undefeated 10-0 in 2007, tying a program-record 10-match winning streak that was previously accomplished in 2006 and 1984.
Oregon’s streak of 30 games won, a new program record, was also snapped on Friday. Read Full Article

(LOGAN, Utah ) - Danielle Sweeney used her feet and her head to help Oregon find offense in unexpected places and hang on to defeat Utah State 2-1 Friday afternoon at Bell Field.
Defender Darcie Gardner got Oregon on the board in the 55th minute when she scored off a corner kick from Sweeney.
It was the first career goal for the junior from Bellingham, Wash., who also attempted a career-best three shots.

The game will air live beginning at 3:30 p.m. on FSN Northwest. You can hear the game live in the Salem-area on 1490 KBZY AM.

(NEWPORT, Ore. ) - Beginning Friday, anglers have a daily limit of two Pacific halibut in the sport halibut fishery off the central Oregon coast on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Over 32,000 pounds remain available for the central Oregon coast (combined all-depth and nearshore fishery inside of 40-fathoms) – from Cape Falcon (30 miles south of the Columbia River) to Humbug Mountain (south of Port Orford).
Sport anglers are also reminded that possession of groundfish species is not allowed north of Humbug Mountain when a Pacific halibut is aboard their vessel during all-depth Pacific halibut dates. Read Full Article

(CLEVELAND, Ohio) - Former Oregon State standout Derek Anderson has been named the starting quarterback for the NFL’s Cleveland Browns for their Sunday matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Anderson will be opposed in his fourth career NFL start by two Oregon State alumni in wide receivers Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh of the Bengals.
Anderson played at Oregon State from 2001-2004, setting records for both career passing yards with 11,249 and passing touchdowns with 79.

The WMSC will receive a full technical report on the 2008 McLaren car and will take a decision at its December 2007 meeting as to what sanction, if any, will be imposed on the team for the 2008 season.”

Dave is among 17 other nationally-recognized coaches.

(CHENGDU, China) - USA striker Abby Wambach stole the show on Friday in Chengdu, slotting home from the spot and hammering a stunning half-volley to get her side back on track after a shaky start with a 2-0 win over Sweden.
Despite being dominated for large parts of the opening period, it was the two-time champions USA who drew first blood when they were awarded a penalty after Sweden keeper Hedvig Lindahl misjudged a looping ball and left Stina Segerstrom with no choice but to take down Lori Chalupny, who was bearing down on goal.
