'Occupy Wall Street in Eureka'Jack Nounnan for Salem-News.com
The demonstration happens at the Courthouse, 5th and I.
(EUREKA, Calif.) - 'Occupy Wall Street' has hit Eureka with people arriving all day at the Courthouse, inspired and ready for 'whatever necessary' in organizing for this lasting presence and mutual support among already 900+ cities or University occupations across the country.
An organizer of Communities For Justice and Peace, Humboldt.Co. Ca., said, "We need you to know about our Occupation, join us in sensing for yourselves, seeing the parameters of this huge undertaking, seeing what's needed and helping. Nothing less will sustain this extraordinary action... for it has to grow!"
Oct 8 - NY; As crowds grow on Wall Street, police cordoned off areas tighten and those who have stray over these arbitrary limits have been beaten.
From a Communities For Justice and Peace, Humboldt.Co. Ca. statement:
"This is all new for us, rare moments for the real 'business' at hand! Already it's beyond any expectations in seeing folks arrive with willingness to shift their entire lives around to make certain there's time to see that this 'rising' work! We've all waited so long for just a breakthrough and it leaves no doubts about why 'giving it our best.'
"Many different folks sharing, then our first group discussions obviously demonstrating the breadth of our group's knowledge, our commitments and then the mix of us taking it far beyond any one person's abilities or leadership. Many already prepared, already networking with all kinds of others in multiplying our efforts. Your head will spin in good ways... recognizing the great good will, input, intelligence and awareness of those present.
"We're staying in close touch with other actions and holding two daily assemblies to welcome new folks, review and work toward our next objectives, say, teach-ins about all of what this movement is about,non-violent and legal trainings, history of other great undertakings for social and environmental, cultural and spiritual changes.
"Updates will be posted daily in attempts to keep up with what's unfolding
"Today... come be with us. Get your own sense of our encampment, this 'Occupation', 'feeling the importance of this moment... what it all means,....listening and offering your ideas.... and good best times for latest updates on our immediate plans and needs. Already supplies arriving... tents, blankets, food, art supplies and encouragement.
"Those of us who've been at this site in past years over these issues have never witnessed the spontaneous outpouring of support, of honking and stopping of cars.
A sumptuous chance for tackling all that's leftover to do
beyond the corruptions, greed and disfunction's of those who were going to serve us, but chose to ignore our most basic life survival issues!
