Nov-27-2011 12:15TweetFollow @OregonNews A report on the 'Occupy' movement and Eureka's shareJack Nounan for Salem-News.comA message from Occupy Eureka
(EUREKA, Calif.) - Purposes? "Any of you 99 % got rights?" Not much under this regime. Finding you have much less when you try expressing them! As good a place to start as any in deciding what our personal stake in all this is. Our 'Freedom tools'? Overruled, us disenfranchised, our civil rights thrown out, wealthy money changers controlling, manipulating and stealing or diluting our earnings, our savings; property holdings 'going going gone' by the slight move of market manipulations or the gush of new printed monies, our crucial public services? . . . our chances for life sustaining work? We have brilliant comic satirists who delight in audaciously rubbing our noses in this cultures worst offences, us being seduced by 'sooth artists' wordings wrapped in amorous, exotic, luxurious fluff, churned out by corporate producers, stalking and talking us right out of our minds, our earnings, humor 'flying' over such consequences, but that was more before 'Occupy America' arrived, before more Americans were ready to look deeper, in seeing the extent of "wealths 'Fortune Five Hundred' corporate plunderers, . . . their impact at all levels of our lives on planet Earth... ...the wealthy, policy setting and governing Montsanto's, Haliburton's, Becktel's, Exxon, Chevron, Shell, Mobil, BP, General Electric, all nuclear power poisoning corporations, the mountain top removers, oil and gas riggers, those water, air and soil polluters, the banana, sugar, coffee corporate rulers of Latin peoples, the new age department store sleeze of Walmart's American 'slave labor', jobs going nowhere based on their despicable 3rd world sweat shops; the grossly rich pharmaceuticals and health insures, millions paying far more, millions still with none, the corporate financiers Coleman Sax, Bank of America, and City Bank assisting corrupted and rigged systems endless productions and sales, but don't forget Time Warner and the rest of media's conglomerate doing their best to render and keep us ignorant and poor! "Wake Up America, break your chains!" Join the vast majority in repudiating these consequences and fighting to take back our lives, . . . is something of what this 'Occupy movement' is all about!
'Occupy Eureka has focused on exposing controls by governing wealths stranglehold bankers and financiers, their endless support of destructive wars enormous waste of fortunes, utter negligences resulting in greater numbers of our personal losses, ignoring our needs, our health and well being; Eureka has welcomed moderates and radicals to find common grounds through marches and rallying in going forward together. 'Occupy Eureka's site has helped in exposing the states prison system, those tortured and criminally locked away in dungeon like cells for years . . . forgotten! And by its own situation of public protesting and courthouse campsite, attracted those most in need, them finding it a sanctuary. This has further exposed governments vendetta against the poorest here locally, surely a microcosm of how wealthy rulers have endlessly treated those of the poorest subject to its exploitations abroad. The bottom line in all this... is state run use of force to 'make certain of its control, the final word in any issue by subduing or eliminating its opposition or those it has written off. Violent police raids have focused more public attention here upon the homeless and sanitation than 'Occupy's original issues. Fortunately this has brought to light one of the most basic and worst offenses of this regimes public programming meant to 'permanently' stigmatize America's 'untouchables' those they rule at the bottom of their trickle down' policies, those without homes, the mentally ill, handicapped, those who have long served, but facing extremes that force them to the streets, many of our vets, those losing jobs, all designated now for elimination... our poorest ranks growing exponentially. Local authorities in Eureka have subjected 'Occupy activists and those 'untouchables' served in its camp to their own dedicated formula of overruling rights with harassment, intimidation and violent raids based upon; 1) Governments petty local ordinances or merely police intimidations, their own reports claiming how businesses and certain peoples have complained about this protest presence, (no real evidences forthcoming) as if this in itself is enough to warrant ending citizens Constitutional rights. 2) Always bringing up and reporting (with media's help and front page profiling), their ungrounded and/or sensationalized instances of peoples conduct or claiming unhygienic reasons for closing down such demonstrations. In 'Occupy' Eureka's situation, from the beginning with letters and verbal requests asked the county for dialogue on all issues along with permission to install their own porta potties at their own cost, while being altogether denied. Looking at these fences surrounding the courthouse lawn reminds one of being in Palestine or closer still, along the U.S. border with Mexico. Let governments orchestrated raids on 'camping' issues marginalize the real purposes of this Occupy movement. . . let the huge changes we've got to have be buried again. . . or will this movement go on exposing the underbelly of this regimes basic inhumanity? It means constant vigil in never ceasing to expose and end corporate invasions like Walmart into our lives locally. It means demanding the end to local governments part in inhumanity toward the poorest by 1) End of public supported policies and laws of prejudice against those who lived in our streets. 2) Ending government harassment and brutality of those without homes. 3) Demanding government allowance of the most basic needs of the right to sleep and to camp in shelter zones already designated for this by the city and required by the state. 4) Government to provide rest rooms and/or porta potties with hand wash facilities, city wide. 5) Encouraging all in our community to remember the ominous nature of stigmas so many have carried, our own willingness to see this truth accepted those it has victimized accepted as part of our own life in community. Nothing short of continued public demonstrations will manifest the changes we're after. Being tucked away in offices, out of sight and mind, is just what this regime seems determined to see happen. Driving us out of public sight, in their minds, must seem certain to force us into normal channels of political persuasions, but this will never be wholly a political movement, nor be about to submit to these old forms of repression and/or aggression that have never provided a level playing field for open and transparent conduct and change. There has got to be absolute reforms to extricate us from this kind of suffocating governing wealth, already well on its road to subjecting the entire world of humanity and its environment to irreversible impoverishment. Or if failing in these means of reform, collectively working to 'change it out altogether', as surely as our governing forefathers encouraged us to do. All this is asking much of ourselves in stepping out of our comfort zones to join this local and global movement, even our willingness to face governments belligerence, face arrest if necessary in overcoming this grip of those wealthiest and most privileged who are so determined to stamp out any challenge to its power!
