Feds Move to Throw Marijuana Users in Prison for Driving

This is crazy neo-fascist, police-state gratuitous political pandering to the Police/Prison-industrial complex.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Are they bleeping serious? Not yet a year and a half into his Presidency, Barack Obama is making the biggest blunder of first half-term. Our president is sliding in these slick, blatantly unconstitutional federal laws. I think the hypocrisy of his having taught law (Constitutional Law, no less) is worse than his admitted "frequent" use of cannabis. He has been corrupted by his VP's "lock 'em all up" policies and mentality. We should be able to fire or impeach a sitting politician for such egregious assaults on our 4th amendment rights, which protect us from search without valid legal cause. Having blood and/or urine demanded by a "roving" DUI checkpoint needs to be struck down fast. If they're going to those lengths to incarcerate people for weeks-old metabolites, then provisions need to be made for insurance companies to be required to provide services (chauffeuring) to anyone legally using cannabis as medication. Un dicho viejo Mexicano: Si te dejas, te cogen. An old Mexican saying: If you let 'em, they'll f#@k you. We can't "let 'em" ! Here is what he's proposing we do at all state levels:

If you smoked marijuana last week or even last month and you drive a car, you may be sent to prison under new guidelines drafted by the federal government. The Obama administration released its National Drug Control Strategy guidelines last week. The federal government wants all of the states to adopt its authoritarian and draconian diktat and expand the drug war.

From the guidelines:

Encourage States To Adopt Per Se Drug Impairment Laws [ONDCP]. State laws regarding impaired driving are varied, but most State codes do not contain a separate offense for driving under the influence of drugs (DUID). Therefore, few drivers are identified, prosecuted, or convicted for DUID. Law enforcement personnel usually cite individuals with the easier to prove driving while intoxicated (DWI) alcohol charges. Unclear laws provide vague signals both to drivers and to law enforcement, thereby minimizing the possible preventive benefit of DUID statutes.

Fifteen states have passed laws clarifying that the presence of any illegal drug in a driver’s body is per se evidence of impaired driving. ONDCP will work to expand the use of this standard to other states and explore other ways to increase the enforcement of existing DUID laws.

This is crazy neo-fascist, police-state gratuitous political pandering to the Police/Prison-industrial complex. It's going to take a whole lot of people flooding their representatives' mailboxes, email accounts and phone lines to evade the implementation of this horrendous piece of legislation.

If this kind of crap gets passed, Obama's done. One term kicked his ass, and turned him from caring about people in his "community coordinator" endeavors, to going with the flow; allowing the status quo to continue regarding the illegal yet rampant political graft occurring at the highest levels of our government. I'm sure Senator Webb will be addressing this issue, having introduced legislation that would examine and remove such atrocities victimizing the general public. They were supposed to do an 18-month study on how to re-organize law enforcement at the federal level, and streamline it to avoid exactly such huge wastes of taxpayers' money, used to incarcerate and forever stigmatize themselves for possessing a bit of a harmless plant.

at some point even the bleeding heart liberal democrats have to admit to themselves that this new socialist-communist world order Obama and friends have envisioned for us in the US isn't exactly democratic or even socialist; Its just more of the neo-con agenda turned on the US population itself. very soon the Obama police state will have us prosecuted and re-educated into obeying his brand of global mind control indoctrination

Currently in Oregon, if you are convicted of possessing even 0.01 grams of cannabis (whether walking to a local park or sitting on your couch), your license is automatically suspended for 6 months. This fact coerces many casual users to partake in drug treatment, expensive brainwashing simply to keep their driving 'privledge', to avoid losing their job or abandoning their family. The Law MUST be changed!

I heard about this a week ago, I even posted it here on a comment. I understand, when ten years ago, I spoke of the NWO, the bilderberg group, the CFR, and trilateral commission, that people thought I was crazy. But now, its in our faces, and anyone who does not believe there is a group of people, ie: bankers, goldman sachs, bilderbergs, rothchilds, etc do not run our country, who control our educational system and our media, and that barry soetero is yet another puppet, are kidding themselves. JFK spoke out, and they killed him. barry is bush on steroids. glad i am just a farmer ;-) My appreciation for salem-news to post this story. thanks.
