Second Amendment Truths

So-called militias of today exist and operate subversively with the object of attacking, rather than protecting our free State.

(PASO ROBLES, CA) - Instead of declaring what will not be allowed, why don’t we say what will?, other weaponry to be used only by the “well regulated Militia necessary for the security of the United States of America.”

In 1783-9 ‘Militia’ meant a well regulated body of men under the leadership of such as Geo. Washington who succeeded in defeating the English whose Officers surrendered to him at York. Victory was won by patriots with firearms meant to provide food for their families; they are the men to whom “the right of the People is given to keep and bear arms; a right that shall not be infringed.”

Individuals do not constitute a well regulated body, and so-called militias of today exist and operate subversively with the object of attacking, rather than protecting our free State. They use weaponry intended for war, not to provide food for their families from whom they isolate themselves periodically to participate in mock battles to prepare themselves to overthrow the established government.

For what?

One mass killing after another in which killers kill themselves, seems more like crazed persons using weapons of war to kill as many as they can before killing themselves as in the Middle East, and suggests a grand ulterior motive of all whose love for and use of military weaponry verges on national revolution.

Kenneth G. Ramey, Salem-News.com's Religion and Philosophy Writer, confronts the hard issues of politics and religion from a logical point of view that combines interesting insight with history into the truth, or lack thereof, that underlies the strengths and weaknesses of the Religious Right’s determination to use American politics for its own misguided, or selfish, interest. It’s rare for a writer to balance his writing between religious values and the secular guarantees of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights with the knowledge that Ken possesses, and to do it so effectively.

Ken was born in Minnesota but was raised in California since 1932. He is the youngest of four boys raised by his mother alone during the dark years of the Great Depression. He Graduated from SFSU in the 1970s when in his mid-forties, majoring in Spanish North American History, and added three years of post-graduate study, much of it in Philosophy and Religion. We live at a critical time in history and believe Ken's views represent the view of many who are tired of the commercialism and false interpretations about religion today. By the way...assault rifles also cause obesity. Assault rifles also cause poverty. Assault rifles cause marriage problems. Assault rifles can also cause baldness and crouch itch. They cause traffic jams too. Honest.
