Group Urges Americans to Make Medical Cannabis Obama's Top Priority

The best rated ideas will be put into an official briefing book and hand delivered to the new President after he is sworn in.

President-elect Barack Obama

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The group Americans for Safe Access says that if President-elect Barack Obama has done one thing so far, he has given citizens a chance to tell him how we feel.

George Pappas with Americans for Safe Access said, "This is our chance to do it, to call him out, to tell him he MUST change federal policy on medical cannabis because people are suffering and it needs to stop!"

ASA says Americans can go to CitizensBriefingBook.Change.gov, and click on “Popular Ideas” (or search for “marijuana”) then vote for “Stop using federal resources to undermine states’ medical marijuana laws” if you share the perspective.

The full question is as follows:

Stop using federal resources to undermine states' medicinal marijuana laws

"Our federal government's Drug Enforcement Administration continues to raid marijuana (cannabis) dispensaries and compassionate use clubs in locations where local and state law allows them to operate. Medicinal marijuana is one of the most widely-supported issues in drug policy reform. Our federal government is wasting scarce resources -- and hurting sick people -- by arresting patients and their caregivers; it should stop doing so."

Pappas says the best rated ideas will be put into an official briefing book and hand delivered to the new President after he is sworn in.

The question has continued to ranked high on Obama's list, as we indicated in December. (see: Marijuana Legalization Tops List of Questions for Obama in Online Poll)

Pappas said, "We need it to win hands down and by a significant margin. Obama has said he will run a bottom up presidency. There will be no bigger voice of the people than this vote winning head and shoulders above all others."

He says input is more important than ever. "Also, tell your friends, your family, your co-workers, and all of your friends on Facebook and MySpace. We need everyone you know to go to CitizensBriefingBook.Change.gov and vote for 'Stop using federal resources to undermine states’ medical marijuana laws.'"

Baldy: You tootin', too when you wrote as you did re brainvsrealities. If so, are you psychiatrist, or only personally psychoticized ? If what-you-say is so true, why not clue us in on your authorities besides YOU ? If proven-so, why not treat those so-hiding via med-means, rather than by metal-gate-and-gun isolation, at high costs of us all-others not directly involved ? Just queries, friend; speak up after you spit it out.

Vic... If you did not want your brain anesthetized, you would not consume it. Fact. Period. That's the REASON you consume it. You want your brain shut down and reality distanced from you. That's why all users of illicit drugs use them. To avoid dealing with reality.

Baldy...I dont know where you get your weed, (it must be a lot stronger than what I get) but I have managed to stay in "the real world" with a degree of success. Im all for productive, positive change however it comes.

Yeah, Vic, we can definitely see that you really, really need it. I mean, can you imagine if you had to live in the real world? You might be stressed or something, and driven to productive change. Why do that, when you can anesthetize your brain, and live in peaceful sloth?

I think people are too worried about breaking the law...I smoke pot..I have some right now and I have no card. I think it is my own business and refuse to allow courts or politicians to decide whether I can or not. I dont hurt anyone and am a producing, contributing part of society. (not to mention smug and some would say looking for trouble..)

TOP Priority? I'll go ahead and shoot myself.
