Dr. Oz and Medical Marijuana: Continuation

Reality is a goal for doctors walking along the (golden) yellow brick road

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - I recently posted an article “Medical Marijuana and Dr. Oz”, responding to his article “You Docs: Risks in Taking Medical marijuana”.

I took him to task because he was writing about the medical risks which are minimal and glossing over the great, therapeutic benefits which are many and in fact, drugs of choice for about 100 disparate medical problems.

I don’t know where he obtained his misinformation but it was seriously flawed and yet seriously demeaned the outstanding benefits with minimal harm if any.

One of the most prolific writers on medical marijuana is Storm Crow, her pseudonym because she cannot have her identity known. She answered him about 12 maladies he wrote about. Storm Crow’s list shows about 100 medical conditions which marijuana seriously helps.

I could not believe that Dr. Oz was against the use of marijuana as effective medicine so I checked him out on my computer. I found several positive articles, for example: “Dr Oz: I am supportive of medical marijuana” which includes 55 mostly positive comments.

Another was, “If Dr. Oz okay’s medical marijuana, could Oprah be next?” He also wrote a supporting article in Esquire magazine which I could not pull up without subscription.

Because he first spoke about marijuana on Oprah’s program I decided to punch up “Oprah and Marijuana”, which must have had several hundred articles mostly about Whitney Houston, a well known marijuana user. There was even a site “Oprah for Medical Marijuana” which was not especially endorsed by herself, however there was a posting under her picture and “Medical Marijuana…-Oprah.com” it was pointed out that Montel Williams was a well known and seriously hassled user of marijuana for great relief from Multiple Schlerosis. The article had 11 excellent comments, mostly positive.

In my article, I seriously decried his statements which were not very complimentary about one of the world’s best and safest medicines.

If I hurt Dr. Oz’s feelings, I apologize.

I had 5,000 medical marijuana patients with a wide variety of medical complaints. They told me that marijuana was the safest and most effective medicine they’d ever used.

DR. OZ --- COME ON BOARD!!

Thanks Dr. Leveque for all your honest words. I wish other doctors would have your courage and integrity. You really care about your patients, and that is not true about all doctors.
