Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival Bloom Begins Monday

The event runs through April 20th

(WOODBURN) - Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival Oregon's largest tulip farm, Wooden Shoe in Woodburn, is anticipating a colorful spring festival.

The 21st annual Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival kicks-off Monday.

There are more than 50 acres of tulips and daffodils to bloom.

The question everyone asks at this time of year is "When will the tulips bloom?"

OSP Receives Grant to Increase Patrols on Highway 99E Between Salem and Woodburn

In November 2002, ODOT designated the approximately 11-mile stretch of highway as a safety corridor due to higher than average crash problems.

(SALEM) - The Oregon State Police has been awarded grant funds to provide extra enforcement between Salem and Woodburn in the Highway 99E Safety Corridor, one of seven safety corridors around the State to be selected by the Oregon Department of Transportation.

"Safety Corridors are sections of state highways that ODOT has identified as having a fatal and serious injury crash rate that is at or higher than 110 percent of the three-year statewide average for a similar type roadway," said Anne Holder, ODOT Safety Division Statewide Roadway Safety Program Manager.

Safe Drinking Water Loan Fund Tops $100 Million Benchmark as Woodburn Completes Water Facility

(Woodburn) - New treatment facility in Woodburn The City of Woodburn has completed a $4 million project to bring its water treatment plants into compliance with federal drinking water standards. It was funded through the Safe Drinking Water Revolving Loan Fund, which has lent more than $100 million to 68 Oregon water systems, leveraging federal dollars for health and economic benefit.

The official celebration of the new facility Wednesday happens March 1st, at 10:00 AM at the City of Woodburn Water Treatment Plant No. 3, 1084 Country Club Road.

Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge After Assault in Woodburn

(Woodburn) - Investigators say a 23-year old Woodburn man was assaulted by another man with an instrument Saturday around 5:00 PM, at 1725 E. Lincoln Street in Woodburn.

Sgt. Jeff Wheeler with the Marion County Sheriff`s Office says the victim was assaulted by 20-year old Kristopher Kenfield. The victim sustained serious injuries to his face, causing broken bones and needed surgery.

Live Military Round Recovered in Woodburn

(Woodburn) - Photo Courtesy: Oregon Military Department Explosive technicians from Oregon State Police and the Oregon National Guard safely removed a live artillery projectile from the backyard of a Woodburn residence Thursday. The projectile was determined to be live by the homeowner's nephew who just completed explosive ordinance disposal training in preparation for deployment to Iraq.
