Off-Duty State Troopers Respond to Early Morning Crashes, Making Three DUII Arrests

Police say one of the crashes happened when a boyfriend and a girlfriend tried to take an offramp at the same time.

(WOODBURN) - wrecked Honda from crash 7 18 06 Off duty Oregon State Police troopers were called on duty following two traffic crashes early Tuesday morning on Interstate 5 between Woodburn and Brooks.

Three people involved in the crashes were arrested for Driving Under the Influence, including one person who police say left the scene on foot.

Man Arrested For Stealing Metal From Marion County Farm

Since January there have been approximately 75 reported thefts made to the Sheriff’s Office involving farm/nursery equipment which is believed to have been stolen for the purpose of selling as scrap metal for money.

(WOODBURN) - Marion County Sheriff`s Office detectives have made one arrest involving the theft of aluminum molding, valued at $4,500, from a farmer who resides on Howell Prairie Road NE, near Woodburn.

The theft had been reported on February 23rd.

On Tuesday, 24-year-old Michael David Bauman was arrested without incident at a Woodburn area business.

Bauman was booked at the Marion County Jail for Theft First Degree, and Conspiracy to Commit Theft

Lt. Bob Stai says during the course of the investigation, investigators learned the stolen articles had been scraped at a Salem area scrap metal recycling company.

Woodburn Teen Arrested After Trying to Elude Police on His Motorcycle

The teen was located hiding in bushes at the Wheatland Ferry boat ramp and taken into custody on multiple charges.

(KEIZER) - A 19-year-old Woodburn resident was arrested Thursday morning after he attempted to elude OSP troopers and Keizer police officers on motorcycle at high speeds on Interstate 5 and Keizer area streets.

OSP Spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings says at about 10:00 AM, OSP Salem Area Command troopers received complaints of a motorcycle southbound on Interstate 5 near Woodburn riding wheelies and passing in between traffic. At about 10:08 AM, OSP Senior Trooper Derek Bischoff saw the motorcycle southbound at the Brooks interchange. Senior Trooper Bischoff overtook the motorcyclist as it took the Keizer exit.

Tanning Salon Owner Accused of Photographing Clients

Police are seeking more possible victims.

(WOODBURN) - A Woodburn tanning salon owner is accused of taking photographs of his clients on his cell phone while they tanned.

Police arrested 40-year-old Randy Ruiz of Gervais for invading the privacy of his clients at Cutters Tanning. Police investigated after a client filed a complaint.

The police found Ruiz may have taken pictures of numerous partially clad clients during the last six months.

Salem Woman Critically Injured in Friday Night Crash

(WOODBURN) - crash investigation A Salem-area woman was critically injured Friday when the car she was riding in lost control and came to rest in a ditch along side Interstate 5 about four miles south of Woodburn.

OSP trooper Doug Brown said just before 9:00 PM, a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Hilario Ortiz Rios, from Salem, swerved to avoid another car that cut him off.

His vehicle left Interstate 5 and came to rest in a ditch along side the freeway.

OSP Fish and Wildlife Troopers Rescue Three People After Capsizing

Timing is everything, and these troopers could not have been in a better place at a better time to rescue the victims in fast moving, 41 degree water.

(INDEPENDENCE) - Capsized canoe Three people narrowly escaped tragedy Sunday, when state fish and wildlife troopers happened upon an overturned canoe with three adults hanging onto the side a few miles downstream from Independence. All three were wearing lifejackets, which the troopers believed help them survive.

Sunday at approximately 12:30 PM, OSP Trooper Adam Turnbo and Trooper Andrew Goffrier were on boat patrol along the Willamette River when they spotted the three on the Willamette River with their canoe overturned...

(WOODBURN) - for sale sign Having a garage sale and live in Woodburn? Well, don`t place your garage sale sign or any signs for the matter on city right of ways. If you do, you could get a visit from a code enforcement officer.

The City of Woodburn will soon begin removing all signs from city right-of-ways – all of which are illegal.

The city`s sign ordinance prohibits the placing of signs of any kind within city limit right- of-ways.

Right-of-ways include: light poles, sidewalks, curbs, traffic signs and structures.
