Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge After Assault in Woodburn

(Woodburn) - Investigators say a 23-year old Woodburn man was assaulted by another man with an instrument Saturday around 5:00 PM, at 1725 E. Lincoln Street in Woodburn.

Sgt. Jeff Wheeler with the Marion County Sheriff`s Office says the victim was assaulted by 20-year old Kristopher Kenfield. The victim sustained serious injuries to his face, causing broken bones and needed surgery.

The victim was admitted to Salem Hospital for treatment of numerous injuries suffered in the attack.

Wheeler did not elaborate on the circumstances behind the assault, but did say Kenfield was arrested and lodged at the Marion County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder and Assault. The investigation is continuing.
