As Talks Near, US Threatens Iran Over Nuclear Work

The UN nuclear watchdog declared in a statement that it had no proof that Iran has, or once had, a covert atomic bomb program.

(TEHRAN PressTV) - Hillary Clinton Days ahead of scheduled talks between Iran and the major world powers, the United States moves to make more threats against Iran's nuclear program.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned on Friday that Iran would face isolation and economic pressure should it continue to defy its nuclear activities.

(TEHRAN Press-TV) - Brig. Gen. Ahmad Miqani The sky can no longer hide any cruise missiles -- stealth or conventional -- entering Iranian air space, the commander of Iran's air defense headquarters maintains.

An Iranian general listed ongoing improvements of existing systems, domestic construction of tens of anti-aircraft artillery pieces at a level that is comparable with latest international systems, construction of air defense missiles, and active and passive radars.

Journalists Face Trial in Iran as Arrests Continue

Iran has confirmed that it is holding 150 people arrested after the election, according to the U.K.'s Guardian newspaper. Other sources cite higher numbers.

(NEW YORK) - After more than a month of detention, several journalists may face trial for "sending pictures to enemy media."

Three documentary filmmakers were arrested July 29th, bringing the total of journalists currently held in Iranian jails to 42, the highest count in the world.

UN Secretary-General Discusses Situation in Iran with Nobel Laureate Shirin Ebadi

The Secretary-General told Ms. Ebadi that he had called on the Iranian authorities to respect fundamental civil and political rights, especially the freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and freedom of information.

(GENEVA) - Shirin Ebadi receives the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has voiced his concern regarding the situation in Iran and his dismay over the post-election violence, particularly the use of force against civilians, in his talks with Iranian human rights activist and Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi.

The two spoke by phone yesterday, Mr. Ban urging an immediate end to the arrests, threats and use of force taking place in Iran amid the post-election violence that has already claimed a number of lives.

Iran's so far away, but is the truth about this place even farther away?

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Wednesday Iran will be a "Sea of Green" as protesters take to the streets after several consecutive days of unrest. Protesters organizing the event ask others to come to Baharestan Square in Tehran at 4:00 p.m.

Iranians can apparently move around without a lot of hassle if they aren't wearing the color that represents the Freedom Movement. One person twittered, "Going to Bazaar is safe, just don't wear green."

Interpretations of problems in Iran by shows like "Meet the Press" completely miss the point.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Green Iran bracelets The problems over the election in Iran signaled the end of a momentary lull in false propaganda on American TV. On Meet The Press with David Gregory Sunday morning, proof of the utter and total disregard for facts was laid out like a court case against the show itself.

What they left out of the program was some honest and interesting data about the way the social networks are becoming the primarily and possibly only tool of communication for members of the "Green" movement in Iran aupporting Mousavi.

Reason is spreading in Iran, except among the Islamic base the Ayatollah intends to use to enforce his will against protesters.

(PASO ROBLES, Calif.) - Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei John Ensign is the latest of a list of evangelical pretenders who have made headlines for claiming to be pure when they are not. Many Catholic priests are guilty too, but for different reasons. But the Grand Ayatollah of Iran will take the cake if he refuses to learn from the lessons of history.

Roman Catholicism is replete with examples of extremism that the Ayatollah seems determined to repeat; namely, to assume he is infallible, especially when his conduct is so transparent. American Evangelists are no less guilty, as has been proven time and time again by conduct contrary to Logic.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Iran flag The grass-roots protests that have engulfed Iran since its presidential election last week have grabbed America's attention and captured headlines -- unfortunately, so has the clamor from neoconservatives urging President Obama to denounce the voting as a sham and insert ourselves directly in Iran's unrest.

No less a figure than Senator John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee in 2008, has denounced President Obama's response as "tepid." He has also claimed that "if we are steadfast eventually the Iranian people will prevail."
