PGR Rider Killed in Motorcycle Crash

(OREGON CITY) - A man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash that was witnessed by his wife, deputies said. Q Madp of IraqWarHeroes.org, says the rider was with the Patriot Guard and on his way to help honor an American killed fighting in the wars overseas.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been escorting military funerals for many years. Madp says the man will be missed.

Portland Police Deal With Male Jumper on I 205 Bridge - PHOTOS

Tragedy was avoided Sunday in Portland when police talked a suicidal man out of leaping from an Oregon freeway bridge.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A man threatening to jump from a bridge on the Interstate 205 freeway in Portland Sunday drew a large police response and halted traffic as teams tried to talk the man out of leaping hundreds of feet into the water below.

Salem Chosen to be Part of $230 Million National Electric Vehicle Project

Salem has been working with ECOtality, the State of Oregon, and other public and private sector partners since January 2010 to prepare for the deployment of EV charging stations

(SALEM, Ore.) - Tuesday, August 31, 2010 – Salem, Ore. – Beginning October 2010, ECOtality North America, the project manager for "The EV Project," will begin installing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Salem and three other metropolitan areas in Oregon (Eugene, Portland, and Corvallis).

ECOtality is overseeing a $230 million public-private initiative to deploy nearly 15,000 EV charging stations in six states and the District of Columbia. The $230 million project is funded, in part, through a grant from the Department of Energy (DOE).

17 Million Americans Drive Drunk Annually

To warn motorists about the dangers of drunken driving, the US government is spending about $13 million for an advertising campaign to publicize increased enforcement through the upcoming September 6 Labor Day weekend.

(TEHRAN Press TV) - A US government study says nearly 17 million Americans have driven a vehicle while drunk at least once within a year.

According to a 2008 survey conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an estimated eight percent of all drivers, or 17.2 million people had driven a vehicle at least once even though they knew they were drunk.

Southbound I-205 Closed Due to Serious Crash

Traffic should get moving a little later this morning; allow extra time if you commute on the I-205. The aternate traffic route would be SR 14 to I-5.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Officers arrived at a crash in the southbound lanes of the I-205 Glenn Jackson Bridge to find all SB lanes blocked, midspan, on the north leg of the bridge.

Sgt. Pete Simpson with the Portland Police Bureau says a semi-truck and two trailers rolled and smashed a Honda Civic. Officers learned that the Honda and another car were in some sort of road rage incident that caused the accident with the semi-truck, which was not involved in the road rage."

(SALEM, Ore.) - The death of 29-year old Robert Haws, an inmate in the Marion County jail, on Tuesday, 13 July, involves significant information that was not revealed in our earlier report.

The incident leading to his mortal injury or injuries, reportedly involved Haws being injured by a single inmate in a fight.

Fiery Crash Stops Freeway Friday Night in Salem

A couple with a racing Jeep and a dog enroute to an event in Lebanon, Oregon crashed but escaped serious injury.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Two lanes on southbound I-5 were closed on I-5 in Salem were closed Friday night. Our photographer Jerry Freeman caught up with the couple whose night came to a crashing fiery halt.

Salem Traffic Moving Again After Freeway Crash

The freeway was is halted for all traffic heading south through Salem.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Two lanes on southbound I-5 are now open in Salem at milepost 257 after a one vehicle crash and fire. Traffic is moving slowly through the area. Expect delays.

Troopers on the scene say both grass and brush burned along side the road as a result of this crash.

Serious Injury Traffic Crash on Hwy 99W East of Lafayette

Area residents know this as a high-risk intersection.
