Salem Traffic Moving Again After Freeway Crash

The freeway was is halted for all traffic heading south through Salem.

(SALEM, Ore.) - UPDATE: 10:08 p.m.: Two lanes on southbound I-5 are now open in Salem at milepost 257 after a one vehicle crash and fire. Traffic is moving slowly through the area. Expect delays.

Oregon State Police say all lanes on the southbound Interstate-5 are closed in Salem at milepost 257 because of a one vehicle crash and fire.

Troopers on the scene say both grass and brush along side the road are also on fire in the area of this crash.

One vehicle was involved in the crash.

OSP initially reported that there was currently a two-mile backup.

That advised that drivers on I-5 should expect significant delays. Again, traffic has now resumed.
