Coast Guard Crews Rescue Motorists in Tillamook County Flooding

The Coast Guard joined Tillamook County the Fire Department to rescue 7 people from floods.

(SEATTLE, Ore.) - Coast Guard HH-60 Jawhawk The Coast Guard reports assisting the Tillamook County, Oregon Fire Department in saving seven people who were stranded after their cars were swept off the road by flooding near Fawcett Creek, Oregon, Wednesday night.

The Coast Guard Group at Astoria received a request for assistance at 9:00 PM from the Tillamook County Fire Department to help rescue a mother and her two infants who were stranded in their car after being swept off of the road by strong flooding.

Coast Guard Station Tillamook Bay launched a swift water rescue crew and Coast Guard Air Station Astoria launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew.

Today is the Sixty Fifth Anniversary of Oregon`s Cape Lookout B-17 Bomber Crash

Republished from one year ago today - Learn the story of ten men who flew their last flight together in 1943, through one that survived.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - Salem-News.com I always thought old airplanes were cool, but I became very interested the giant WWII B-17 bombers while researching a historic crash site at Cape Lookout in Tillamook County, Oregon in the early 1990's.

It was sixty five years ago on this date, that this four-engine plane and her crew of 10 U.S. Army aviators were lost in the fog, flying close to the ocean as they tried to find a landmark. The sole survivor of the crash, 2nd Lt. Wilbur Perez, was the plane's bombardier.

14-Year Old Surfer Struck by Dory Fishing Boat Loses Arm at Pacific City Beach

The victim, Cole Ortega of Bend, had been surfing with his 16-year old sister and her boyfriend. Other members of Ortega's family were on scene.

(PACIFIC CITY, Ore.) - Cape Kiwanda at Pacific City from the air One of the worst things any surfer who goes to Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City can imagine, happened today. Just before 10:00 AM, a 14-year old boy surfing in large waves at PC was run down by a double ended dory fishing boat, police say. The boy survived, but his left arm was amputated in the collision.

Body of Missing Gresham Man Discovered in Van Duzer Corridor

Suspicious Death Investigation - Highway 18 between Grand Ronde and Otis

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Police say the victim, 32-year old Kinnisso Gemachu Dhiboo, was operating his black 1996 Infiniti J30 four door displaying Oregon license ZGK 474. Police say a Gresham-area man reported missing to Portland Police Friday night was found deceased Saturday night along Highway 18 in the Van Duzer Corridor of Tillamook County. The public is asked for their assistance to help find the victim's missing vehicle and information related to this investigation.

Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police says investigators working in conjunction with Portland Police Bureau, Tillamook County District Attorney's Office, and Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office report no obvious signs of a cause of death and an autopsy is scheduled Monday.

Saturday at approximately 10:00 PM, Oregon State Police responded to a report that a man walking his dog in a wide turnout on Highway 18 near milepost 11 found a body over the edge of the highway, spokesman Gregg Hastings said.

Two Suspects Arrested Related to March 22nd Injury Hit-and-Run Investigation

The crash happened on Highway 6 near Tillamook.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - 19-year old Eric Ramirez of NE Portland and 25-year old Carlos Jimenez-Balboa of SE Portland Two suspects were arrested Wednesday night by Oregon State Police (OSP) detectives and troopers related to last weekend's multi-injury hit-and-run crash on Highway 6 near Tillamook.

Sergeant Lane Hendrickson with OSP says using leads developed with the public's help, their investigation led to the arrest of two suspects at the Greyhound bus station in Salem last night at approximately 9:45 PM.

Missing Person in Tillamook County Located

A missing person is located after an intense search.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon Civil Air Patrol aircraft The Tillamook County Sheriff is reporting that the 45-year old man who was reported missing last night, and was the object of an intensive search today, has been found.

Oregon US Civil Air Patrol aircraft involved in the search have secured from their search operations and are returning to their respective bases in Salem and Brookings.

(TILLAMOOK) - The Cape Meares Lighthouse The Cape Mears lighthouse at 34 feet is one of the shortest on the west coast.

The lighthouse is located is on a high rocky cliff placing the light 217 feet above the ocean.

On January 1st, 1890, Cape Meares was lit by Anthony Miller (the first principal keeper) and his two assistants.
