SRI LANKA: Realities Of An `International Investigation`

It is pertinent that anyone calling for an international investigation do so under the powers of Article 99 of the UN Charter routing this through the UNSG instead of the UNHRC for more effective action and avoiding political factors...

Family of Tamil Activist Threatened in Mannaar After `Sri Lanka CHOGM`

The relatives of missing persons, while peacefully demonstrating and demanding the visiting British PM to witness their plight, were attacked by the Sri Lankan Police...

(MELBOURNE TamilNet) - Tamils in Manaar There is absolutely no democracy in Sri Lanka. Any activist runs the risk of making a disappearing act without a trace. Jude Bashil Sosai (Suresh) is in that process right now. His only crime was that he fought for his people's rights.

Disobeying the orders of the military, whether they are reasonable or not is a crime in Sri Lanka. The punishment for which, is that they would disappear in a white van and there will be no information on him.

London`s Tamils Want to Share Their Horror Stories with David Cameron

There is a structural problem in the Sri Lankan constitution: Tamils just aren’t recognised as equal.

(LONDON Vice) - Tamil protesters in central London If you've heard anything about the persecution of Tamil people in Sri Lanka, it's likely you've only been exposed to the tip of a very large, very depressing iceberg.

The country's authorities have systematically attacked the Tamil population for over 60 years, engaging in a prolific campaign of sexual and human rights abuses, most notably the murder of at least 40,000 Tamil civilians in 2009. The Tamils believe that their people have been the victims of a genocide.

`Shall We Stop this Bleeding?`: A Call from Kevin Annett

Half of the problem is rooted in the fact that church leaders ask their congregations to not report crime to law enforcement - but rather to keep it in the church political system.

I know of few people with such passion and dedication toward helping the voiceless, the nameless, the poor. His work for humanity in exposing Genocide and helping befall high ranking members of the Catholic Church for protecting priests that rape children is extremely important.

So many people bemoan the anguish of child sex trafficking, rape and abuse victims, yet 99% of the people do nothing about it.
